I see a vision: Picture a line of shiny Elements going up the 15 Freeway to Las Vegas. Well, there has been a few posts on having a caravan to Vegas. I am up for this, and want to at least guage the interest.

yeah that would be a great place to meet. its right above the 10 and below the 210 on the 15 freeway. i live just down the 210 so lets organize something and all meet at Victoria Gardens.

It would be nice to find out how many folks from the IE will be going to Vegas. Since I live in Mo Val, meeting at Victoria Gardens or Ontario Mills is a good idea, however, I am closer to the 215. As Vegas time approaches, We will all just have to coordinate this caravan. I am thinking of heading up on Friday, and could meet at either one of those shopping centers.

Keep me posted on how many you get and you can also give me an update closer to the day/time of an estimated time of arrival. It would be great to be at the hotel watching as all of you roll in. That's one of the best parts of these big meets...watching the Elements roll in together.

I have every intention to go LV, BUT I need to coordinate it with the wife... See what her schedule is... A 'E' - convoy to LV would be super slick! Just imagine, - we would all 'look' the same for a change... :-I

Shelby,
Nice that you want to take this on. I think that it would be a good idea if we met at a parking lot close to the freeway. Easier access when we all decide to leave :) . In addition, I say me meet up at noon on Friday, June 22, have lunch with the EOC ladies and fellas, and get the caravan going around 2:30 -3:00 pm. As you know, the 15 Freeway can be a nightmare around that shopping center, in addition to the other non-Element owners going home, Barstow, or going to Vegas. This will put us all in Vegas around 6:00 pm. I am sure that there will be a contingent from San Diego making their way to meet up with us at Victoria Gardens. JoeBoxer, are you out there. Just my thoughts and I am sure that there are other opinions.

yes i'm here and friday is when i was going to drive over, thinking of leaving at noon time from san diego. so it seems your timing would be really good in terms of when you want to leave, but i could possibly leave a little earlier and get there sooner. any idea what the driving time would be from san diego to this meet up place?

Depending on where you are in San Diego, it could be a hour and a half drive minimum. Not counting for construction, traffic jams and other assorted accidents that seem to happen on the 15, especially on a Friday mid morning to early afternoon. If I were you, I would consider leaving around, 11 or 12 noon. You will hit some tight spots, espeacially going through Corona/91 Freeway. Always seems to be a back-up at all times during the day.

I'm not sure if I can go yet, but something to consider; traffic on Friday afternoon is terrible going to Vegas.

I used to go at least once a month and if you try to get out of L.A. at 3pm there's a good chance your going to get stuck in Bakersfield for a while. Not to mention the increased traffic out by Baker; it seemed there was always an accident as soon as it got dark which adds hours to the trip.

You may want to consider S.D. people heading out late morning and meeting up briefly with those from L.A. somewhere with easy access to the freeway for a quick bite and being back on the road north no later than 12:00 or 1:00.

That would at least put the group in Vegas before dinner. Waiting until 3pm or later, you'll be lucky to get in before 7pm or later if you hit traffic or an accident. You may even want to consider meeting a bit further north above the pass to avoid the afternoon traffic and have a head start when we all head out.

That said, I think I'd prefer to just to avoid the weekend traffic all together and head out Thursday and have all of Friday to relax.

and victoria gardens is right next to the freeway and leaving about 12 or 1 sound like a good time

I suggest that there should be a Thursday departure group and a Friday departure Group. I plan on leaving on Friday. I say caravan on two days. I think that as the time of the meet gets closer, more people will chime in with their days they plan on driving up. I am not worried about the traffic, as Joe Boxer stated, I love driving my E. Traffic on the 15 Freeway to Vegas, from the 10 Freeway, on a Friday, gets really bad starting between 1:30 and 3:00 pm.

I also agree with Ranger, a second meeting place in Barstow is a good idea. There is a outlet mall there that is a perfect place for another meeting place. I will do some research and post later. Just a suggestion.

I figured now would be a good time to revive this thread since the deadline for hotel reservations is coming up.

It's starting to look like there's a good chance that I'll be able to go.
I sent a message trying to confirm the schedule so I can decide whether to go up on Thursday or Friday.
I'm leaning towards Thursday.

Do we have an offial list of who is leaving when?
Is everyone staying until Sunday?

Ok I'm booked at the hotel and signed up as attending with the club. Leaving Friday, perhaps a little earlier say 10 or 11am from San Diego, would love to caravan from here or at least meet up at Victoria Gardens. We can talk about this Sunday at our San Diego Meet & Greet!

Driving back on Sunday after hotel check out. Got tickets to LOVE on saturday night and just one big FYI, it will be hotter than hell there! Make sure your A/C is working well and pack lots of t-shirt and sandle type clothing for the time outside.

My room is booked, and I registered for the meet last week, sent in my fee also. As for the caravan, at this time, 9shelby's poll suggests that there are at least seven individals who are planning on going. Two are planning to leave on Thursday, three on Friday, and two others planning to do their own thing.

I am planning to leave on Friday. As I stated on some earlier posts, I can meet at Victoria Gardens. Since 9shelby is coordinating a Thursday departure, I will try to coordinate a Friday departure from Victoria Gardens. JB, Ranger, If I can make it to the SD meet this Sunday, we could discuss this. I hope that there will be a few more individuals from the IE who are going also, and plan on leaving Friday. I remember seeing a post from someone from San Bernardino who is planning on going via the 215 Freeway and wanted to meet up in Devore. Will have to review the posts. The more the better!

I know others sounded interested on the "sticky" thread at the top of the Socal forum.
So far none have chimed in here though.

I just need to get a definitive answer from the Mrs. and then I'll know which day I'm heading up.
I plan to leave after checkout on Sunday also. We'll probably have a bigger caravan coming back. :-D

By they way, I've got a CB so if anyone else is so equipped, be sure to bring it along.
It's a great way to keep in touch while on the road and get traffic and "bear" updates on channel 19.

If you don't have one, it is a great investment for trips like this.

Good for you to bring up the subject of "Convoy Communication"... Many of us do no longer have CB's,, -- BUT we have cells and them little handy dandy walkie talkies. Everybody should have one such device to be able to communicate with the rest of the herd. Smoke signals are a poor way of getting your point across, (but still has a lot of stopping power :-( ) and swinging flags isn't always practical either.
Maybe we can assemble a spreadsheet in advance with all participants' contact means and number... Once under way, it should be reasonably simple to stay together, and a convoy like that will not travel much faster than 70 - 75 mph....

I will be leaving Friday from Cypress, CA. My problem is that the MamaBear has to work and cannot get out before 12:00. I might be to late to hook up to the convoy. I will try to adjust her schedule a bit, and hopefully make it anyway, but, I cannot be sure as of yet. Victoria Gardens appears to be a logical meeting point...

I am still up for leaving on Friday between 12 and 12:30 pm from Victoria Gardens. I will use the same meeting point as 9Shelby. I will get the word out via a mass PM to all the individuals who expressed an interest in caravaning to the E-vent. I know that some will be leaving on Thursday from Victoria Gardens. Will try to PM this afternoon.
