: Month of May Gathering
chozn4service 04-12-2007, 09:21 AM Just thought I'd throw this out there for the Midwest Element owners of the EOC. The month of May brings the sound of Honda powered motors screaming around the famous 2 1/2 mile oval known as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and hearing Tom Carngie saying "And he's on it".
I believe the track announced that Kid Rock will be this years featured entertainer inside the track for the Friday before the race free concert. This is also "Carb Day", "Pit Stop" competition and a final practice and the Infinity Series race. I think this particular Friday before the race is Community Day. You can check out the tracks website and get all the details on whats going on there. There is general admission into the track with infield parking and family seating. Just bring your food & beverage, blankets and chairs.
Anyway, Dom.Five comes to town every year and he and I hooked up briefly last year the day after the race. There is talk of maybe those who come to town this year, going to the Broad Ripple Brewpub http://www.broadripplebrewpub.com/ and socializing. Broad Ripple is a village on the northeast side of Indy, where a wide variety of eclectic people hang out and gather. One word to discribe Broad Ripple might be Seattle.
Again, this is just being thrown out there for those who might find themselves in the area or have plans to be in town for the race, we'd like to get together for a hand shake, slap and a grab!
If there is an interest in this we can all meet at the Broad Ripple park just down the street and then motor to the pub. During our social time we can discuss our next move, maybe driving out to the track for some photos at the entrance or maybe rolling out to O'Rielly's Indianapolis Raceway Park for the Truck race. There are several things going on and I think they even brought back the Silvercup USAC Migit races back at the fairgrounds. Lot of stuff to do, just a matter of planning and time.
This all being said, if you think you'll be here, check in and let us know. Dom, I already know you're good to go and Dancetiludrop as said he may come down from Fort Wayne too. Bofus may test out that new spoiler on I65 and give us a gas report when he gets here. :-P
Anyway, all are welcome.
Dom.five 04-12-2007, 11:52 AM You Know I'm in! Hotel is paid for and the tickets are in hand. I hope they have some Red Bird Brewed this year. I love that stuff!
Dom
chozn4service 04-12-2007, 12:07 PM I just checked Dom and the Red Bird Mild is always on tap. Sounds like a good brew, red amber in color, medium body, fragrant malt aroma with a slightly sweet taste which was the Indiana State Fair 2003 Best in show Brew! http://www.broadripplebrewpub.com/brbbeer.html
Anyway, I knew you were down for the Brickyard. Gonna be at least three females trying to make the show and one makes Danica look like the wicked witch of the west! Can't think of her name but she puts the "F" in fine!
Dance said he would be down and I know a few others have chimed in over the past few weeks that they might be interested in coming to town. We'll see how it pans out. One thing I've learned, with the EOC, we don't have to have numbers to have a good time.
uukbar 04-12-2007, 08:53 PM i'm going to be taking advantage of the opening day of fishing season. family tradition. thanks for the offer chozn!!

uukbar 04-13-2007, 08:43 AM race day the 27th?
i might be able to make it.....
chozn4service 04-13-2007, 09:05 AM http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/
Yes, the race is on Sunday May 27Th. The entire month schedule is available on the above link. I know last year Dom wanted to hook up at the Brewpub on the Friday before the race but schedules didn't permit at the time. This year, we're trying to ensure if can be done. The Broad Ripple Brewpub on the Friday before the race is there are people here for that. If not, we can all try to work something out for Sunday during or after the race. We'll just have to see what happens.
dancetiludrop 04-13-2007, 02:06 PM Either day works for me......I'm there dude!!
Although Dom I will have to say that the ABM might not make it :-(
gn_it&rn-it 04-22-2007, 08:37 PM and one makes Danica look like the wicked witch of the west!.

Dom.five 04-23-2007, 12:08 AM Either day works for me......I'm there dude!!
Although Dom I will have to say that the ABM might not make it :-(
Thats OK !!
I'll love being the only one there with an outstanding ( and the best color, I might add ) E !! :D
Dom
chozn4service 05-10-2007, 02:52 PM All I can say Dom is "Got Milka"? This chick is HOT! To hear her talk is a real turn on too compared to the monotone Patrick. You can bet your last dollar that Danika is going to be laying on the makeup extra thick this May in order to try and keep the attention on her.
chozn4service 05-10-2007, 03:02 PM Then of course there is Sarah Fisher. From Ohio I think and attended Butler University here in Indy. She plans to wed this August. She's your girl next door.
chozn4service 05-10-2007, 03:05 PM Here are shots of all three and not in how they rank with me.
chozn4service 05-10-2007, 03:30 PM Ok, here is the game plan. I posting this and guys/gals can decide on what they want to do from there.
Dom had suggested last year that we meet at the Broad Ripple Brewpub and I thought that would be a great location as well. Dom has been there before and looking at the menu, they have something for everyone. They also make they're own brews which have gotten great remarks in some of the local mags and awards from the State Fair.
So with that being said, I offer that everyone coming to the Indy gathering, meet either at the Brewpub on Friday, May 25Th say around 2 or 3 pm, later is fine too but be advised that Broad Ripple is an eclecktic type village and everyone is out walking around and it's usually packed. I was thinking everyone could meet at the Broad Ripple Park which is just east of BR on 2nd street and there is no cost for admission. We meet there and proceed to the Brewpub. Once we eat, we can then mount our steeds and maybe drive out by the track. Should be pretty lively and we can get in, take some pics by the track office, maybe get into the infield and just see whats going on. If those coming would rather do something a little more familiar, there is an Applebee's between the Brewpub and the park that could take us in as well. They have outdoor seating where we can over look the river and watch folks run the river on their boats, skies etc...It's a real nice atmosphere but regardless, Broad Ripple is relaxed environment. Very relaxed. So, there you have it. Those who plan to come to town can chime in as you get your plans set. There is something going on everyday around the city and the track. 16th street will be live with activity and the vendors will be open selling hats, shirts and food too. There are some watering holes, everywhere around the area as well. I'm sure I'll reach my limit with one since I'm driving and if my wife comes along, which she says she is and I find a place that does yards of ale, I may take one of those on if, IF they let me have it for free if I don't spill any. See if I still have the touch.:-P
So people, you got the plan. A get together the Friday before the race and there is a race I believe at O'Rielly's Raceway park or either the Silver Cup at the Indiana State Fairgrounds with the migets. I'll have to check on that one for sure but I do know there is a race for sure at O'Rielly on Saturday sponsored by Kroger.
So hit in and lets here who is coming. Me, Dom, and Dance make three. Bofus has spoken prevously with "Regards" that he would come up. All you guys in Madison, Chicagoland, Columbus, the Motor City and other points of the Midwest are welcome. Time to get in the box and bring the box to the circle, Circle City that is.
dancetiludrop 05-10-2007, 03:37 PM Sounds good to me! :D
It's good to leave it loose and open like that with a general outline of what to do IMO.
So meet at the park between 2-3 and head to the pub?
Make sure to post directions to both so us out of towners can find where we're goin' :D
chozn4service 05-10-2007, 04:02 PM The Broad Ripple Brewpub located in Broad Ripple on 65th Street between College Avenue and the Monon Trail. Here is their link: http://www.broadripplebrewpub.com/
Coming in on the interstate from the north from I69, continue on I69 which will turn into SR37 also know as Benford BLVD. Continue to 62nd street. There will be a Shell station on the corner and turn right. You'll be heading west and continue until you come up on the park which will be on your right and this will be shortly after passing Keystone AV. Those coming in on I65, jump onto I865E to Keystone AV and exit off. At the bottom of the ramp bear to your right and continue south until you come to 62nd street and turn right. Continue to the park on your right. I70, I74 participants coming from Ohio and I65 users coming from the south, jump onto I465 north (I70/I74) & (I65) jump on I465 east to West 56th/Shadelan exit. Continue west on 56th street to Keystone AV and turn right. Proceed north to 62nd street and turn left to the park on your right about 1 mi.
Those coming from the west portion of the state on I70/I74, jump on I465N to 38th street and go east on 38th street to Fall Creek. Turn left onto Fall Creek to the third traffic light which will be Keystone AV. Turn left and proceed to 62nd street and turn left. Do what I told the others to do once they're on 62nd street.
We'll meet at the park between 2 and 3 pm and then head to the Brewpub. Dance, you can stop by my crib if you want and we can roll from there. Just let me know what your plans are. I'm sure you'll want to clear some of the bug juice off before you get there.
So those are the directions and the details. Get on the Pub's site and check out their menu. Look on the speedways site as well and see if there is anything in particular going on that you would like to do. I do know that, that Friday is Community Day and Kid Rock will be performing. Lot of stuff going on in and around the track. Anyone coming early to hang out at the track during Friday's activities, final practice, carb day and there is a Indy Lites series race as well going on, let us know. There may be a group that may go as well and then leave to meet in BR. Hope all this info helps and again, chime in and let us know who's coming. Hope my EOC T is here by then.
Dom.five 05-24-2007, 12:26 PM Ok I'm In Indy!
Hope to see you around 2:00.
Dance are you going to be able to make it?
