Ok, I'm willing to put together a meet and greet on Sunday May 20th from 2 til 5 at Mission Bay Park off the I-5 at the small lot north of the de anza boat launch area, everyone's invited! We'll meet and then drive around Fiesta Island, grab a smoothie at Jamba Juice and have a remote contest. Everyone can bring their goodies for trade and sale too! I'll try and get Jerry from South Coast Accessories to come down too and maybe the dead pedal guy since he's local. UPDATE: They are BOTH gonna be there! WTF are YOU waiting for! Get with the program!! ;-)

C'mon, let me know who's in!

ADDENDUM: See pics of this meet starting on page 6 and post 60 of this thread!

My schedule is a bit up in the air, but I'm definitely going to try and be there.
I'd prefer to meet a bit earlier than 3pm though.

I might even have a few new mods by then.

Wish I could be there. I could hang out with you guys while the wife could stay at the Hilton there in Mission Bay and get her usual massage and chill at there cafe, and I could be there flying my kite in the park there. I love Mission Bay and when we don't stay at the Seaport Village, the Hilton in MB is our preferred choice second to the Scripps Inn in La Jolla. Man I miss San Diego. Hope you guys have fun and if I could be there, you best believe I would.

Yea JoeBoxer, do that. San Diego is one of a couple of cities on my short list that if I relocate, that's where I would/will consider along with Savannah, GA, Scottsdale, AZ or Nashville, TN. Maybe you guys can get Rodrez to represent me with his Tango Red Pearl.

I'm looking forward to seeing those lights you got and how you like them. I've been searching for that particular kind you have and I've yet to find them though I've seen drpheta's KoBo's on ebay. I'm going to play it by ear and see what I come up with. I'm currently on the side of the highway in wait for a BIG TRUCK to come through this restricted zone and hopefully, I'm thinking when I'm done at 10a, I'll go home and put this new horn on. It came in on Monday. It's real cool today with chance of rain, so I'm not eager about getting in the garage today.

Got one, got to go.

JoeBoxer, my wife wishes we were there right now, she said bump being there in spirit. We try to make it out there every two years and usually hit Carlsbad, La Jolla and like I said, we stay at the Hilton there in Mission Bay. She loves the Wild Animal Park and of course me being former Navy, I tend to gravitate towards Mirimar. I keep tellin' her the next time we come I would take her down on Rosecrans to the WiennerShnitzel for a dog if they're still in business. I know time brings about a change but we love S.D, Coronado she hates the bridge to get there and she hasn't got a firm grasp on the warning signs there similar to the deer warning signs we have here. She don't get it.

You mean this sign?

I love the reaction when people see them for the first time.

chozn4service
05-04-2007, 06:14 PM
That's it. That's the one. My wife does not understand why they have those. I told her their like our dear crossing signs. They warn you of pedestrians crossing and she wonders why they would be crossing. Dah! Of course she hasn't been too please with me since I took her to Tijuana and she felt most uncomfortable at the Denny's there on the boarder. She's too sensitive in some area's and not in tune in others.
Man I wish I lived close enough to hang with you guys. I know it's gonna be nice!

Count me in, thanks to JoeBoxer for the heads-up PM as I hadn't happened to notice the date coming up!

but really..."the dead pedal guy"? man, pretty soon it'll be "the dead guy" or "the peddler"...yeesh.

anyway, I am still tinkering with my pop top camper conversion so will have to move things along as it still has some rough edges...(should be all smoothed by the time the big Vegas event...)

anyone want to head out on the water post-meet, I may bring a kayak along as Mission Bay is a great place to paddle.

cheers,

I'm staying in some low-end hotel in El Cajon and was wondering if there were any nice beaches around there too. hmmm

3 things:
first: welcome

second: May and/or June can be "iffy" in San Diego. we have 2 terms, "May Gray" and "June Gloom" that well describe what it can be like. cause: the deserts heat up and suck in a lot of marine moisture. eventually the ocean heats up and the temp difference doesn't suck in as much marine moisture. having written all that, let me write that there are exceptions to every rule and that we just had about a week of unusually warm weather.

third: El Cajon ain't anywhere near the ocean. the good news is that El Cajon will probably be outside the gray/gloom region if that's what's happening.

That close, going to Seaport Village is real nice! Have lunch and walk around checking out the shops and all. I'd make it a point to go the La Jolla too. If you park along the coast there once you get to the area of the Hard Rock, you can walk down to the beach and there are seals laying around on the rocks and beach. They're pretty friendly but don't jack with them. The wild life preserver is nice too. You can take a train around the joint and see all the animals and they have a couple of white tigers too. Coronado Island is nice too. I know you can't do it all but most stuff is relatively close. Balboa Park too. Peace!

OK, JoeBoxer, Just because it's you putting this meet together I'll plan to cruise on down. Really, I appreciate the email, and thanks for the special invite. I'm looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones. I'll offer a San Diego meet special. Complete Classic Set $185.00, and The Deluxe Complete Set $265.00. This is the lowest price we will ever offer, and you'll save the $35 on the S&H. I'll also have our South Coast Element Tee shirts on sale S-XL $15 and XXL-XXXL $20. So let me know the carpet style and color, I'll bring it down for you. These Meets are great fun and you get a chance to see some HOT 'E' mods, and meet locals with the same thing in common, ( WE LOVE OUR 'E's ) So come on down and say HI! See you there, Jerry/SCA

And while you're at it, hit Carsbad too. It's a nice spot. If you go south on Carmen Real (sp) to where you come up on the strip mall on your right, there is a real nice bar on your left that has great food and drinks. I can't remember the name but the city is a real nice place. I stayed at the Olympic Resort Hotel and the place I'm referring to is just south of there.

La Jolla is definitely a nice beach, plus there's Prospect Street in La Jolla with all the nice restaurants and gallerys.

I'd recommend Mission Beach too. It's the classic SoCal beach, complete with a roller coaster.

That's it. Camino Real. You da man! Man I wish I lived out there. I know one thing, if the Mrs. puts it on the top of the list, we'll make it happen. I know she seems to think there are a lot of pedo's in the SD area but I tell her, they are not specific to one area over another. These sicko's are everywhere and you just have to keep a watch. I remember when I was single, and I stayed at the Olympic for two weeks while I was instructing the Carlsbad PD and Orange County, I was in the pool with Jennifer Capriatti. I guess they have a real be tennis tournament there and she was in it and stayed at my hotel. She was nice, very nice! I couldn't believe no one was around her and the hotel really seemed to be deserted in spite of the tournament. Anyway, I digress.
I could live in SD for sure. Don't know how a Colts fan would make it there though, but I'd still go to La Jolla and watch the Bolts practice. That's it, I could be a Colts and a Bolts fan.

For those that need it, here is a link to a map of Mission Bay...
http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/parks/missionbay/facilities.shtml

On that map, the parking lot (if I'm not mistaken) is where the restroom icon is located, just south west of the number 4.

Directions....

From I-5, exit Clairmont Drive, make a left and go west toward the water.

Make a right onto E Mission Bay Drive.

Follow E Mission Bay Drive past the large boat launch parking lot.

Once you pass the large lot, you will see the smaller parking lot for the meet on the left.

Here is a picture showing the intersection of I-5 and Clairmont Drive. The parking lot is circled in red.

A special thanks to JoeBoxer for organizing the meet. Thank you for the invite, it was a pleasure meeting some new friends and seeing some old ones. What's cool about this is you get a chance to see everyones personalities come out in the way they modify their 'E'. Thanks again for all that made it down and your support. See you at the Las Vegas National 'E-Vent':D

Ursa Minor's pop-up is crazy. Do you sleep on the roof of the E?

Nice to see Heartdog's E, where's a pic of Borias? (He's so handsome).

Congrats on a good meet JoeB.

Great pics, too! And yeah, one was taken of us together, which I'd looove to see!
Such a cool variety of E's! What does all my stickers say about me? I'm outspoken? ha ha! They are magnets btw. I can change them up at will :D
I took some pics, too, but I think these were a great overview!

Heartdog, there is a sign shop with magnets there in Seaport Village in case you haven't seen it.

Looks like you guys/gals had a great time. Wish there had been group shots with everyone by their E and then each person tagged so we know who's who. I think we did that last year or at least I saw one of our little gathering in an email.

Do my eyes play tricks on me but is there a Land Rover Discovery trying to infiltrate the group in that last pic that was posted?

Did you guys get any people coming over to check the Elements out?

Peace!

I got everyone I think but I'm waiting til each asks for or okays their individual pics being posted or conversely if anyone wants anything already posted taken down, just let me know by PM. The Land Rover is just passing by on the street behind the parking lot. And yes we got people coming over, one couple said they wanted to buy one and told us how much they preferred it over the Xb which they remarked was too toy-like.

I brought my camera but didn't hardly use it because I was too busy trying to remove all the shtuf out of the back to install the carpet.

I'd love to see the pic of me and my son next to my E. (Unless I look stooped or something.:D )
