: CB picking up noise from pump

Hey group

I just installed a Cobra in my E. Nice install actually, due to the help of others on this board. It hangs from the ceiling box...power is tapped off of the map lights and i grounded it right to the body up above the ceiling compartment. I ran the antenna cable thru the headliner, down the driver side pillar behind the tweeter, down behind the dash, under the door saddle to the rear. I have a mag mount on the tail end of the roof.

Problem is I am picking up some RF interference from the fuel pump. Anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you fix it? If not, any ideas?? We're planning a cross country trip back home from LA to NY in a couple of weeks and am pretty bummed that the CB isn't working right.

Side note: the ham rig works fine! Yaesu FT100 mounted on the subwoofer cover. No noise on that at all!! Antenna cable follows same route as the CB.

Thanks everyone!

CB

I know its a pain, but the best solution is to run a dedicated power line to the fuse box....OR try going to Radio Shack & get an isolator for the power feed... that should limit your feedback from the fuel pump....I just did this same install, except I installed a medium sized Uniden radio inside of the ceiling console...... Hey Pat

Thanks for the info. I was going to try a ferrite bead on the power line. I can always run a power line up to the ceiling box now that I've been down that road before. My ham rig is connected straight out to the battery and works fine.

I'll try a new route for the power line.

thanks,
