Help! I don't know why I have such difficulty figuring out car audio stuff. I can put it together mechanically, I need help with figuring out what size amps to use.

I'm popping MBQuart PCE216 into each of the 4 doors. The tweeter is rated at 120w the woofer at 65-130w. I have three new Infinity amps, 2 50x2, 1 4x50 + 1x200. As I understand it's just as bad to underpower speaker than overpower. An I reading this right that I would be underpowered?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

What a speaker can "handle" and what a speaker "needs" are two entirely different things. Look at the sensitivity of the MB's you have there. Its likely a number around 90db 1w/1m. That means with 1, yes 1, (one, uno) watt of power your speakers will be 90db which is pretty loud (a train whistly at 500ft is 90db). You need the extra power for transients like bass throbs, etc. Even then you likely only use up to 10 watts of power at any given time. Subs are a different story but still not as power hungry as most would assume. Were it me I would bridge the 4x to the two fronts, use the two channel for the rears and the 1x for a sub.

Just my .02.

Check out my install in my sig for some ideas maybe.

Thanks, that helps. I'm not into loud, into quality. I have everything here so I don't think it's going to hurt to try this.

I have read you install thread a couple of times, tons of great info in there.
