: Element & Element camper
CrazyMan 05-21-2007, 03:23 PM My wife and I bought a Fleetwood Element "Neon" camper. Total dry weight is about 950 lbs. With electric brakes it tows fairly easy. We loaded all of 5 plastic totes worth of camp gear, chairs, grill, tables, etc. I couldn't believe it all fit in the trailer !!! Now I can take more stuff along in the E.
Enjoy the pics:
CrazyMan 05-21-2007, 03:24 PM Here's some more interior shots:
CrazyMan 05-21-2007, 03:26 PM And a few more:
From the outside:
CrazyMan 05-21-2007, 03:27 PM Okay, last group:
BrownSquirrel 05-21-2007, 03:36 PM Looks very nice. Would you mind telling how much that camper cost?
elementfreak 05-21-2007, 03:42 PM That is pretty sweet....I like it alot
CrazyMan 05-21-2007, 04:09 PM The cost, if you can locate one, ranges from about $3500 to $4500. Someone here bought one in Maryland recently for $2000.
gisele 05-21-2007, 06:37 PM Good pics. Tell me about the interior. Is that a refrigerator door beneath the bed area? And off to the side of that door--is that storage?
-g
SciJohn 05-21-2007, 09:07 PM It looks cool. It would look even better if you had the shell custom painted to match the Element. :)
wickedhuff 05-21-2007, 09:14 PM that's awesome!! i'd be a little sketch about sleeping in it though, that one single bar doesn't look very sturdy holding up the sleeping area.....hmmm
Solid 05-22-2007, 03:07 AM Sweet, sweet set-up; thanks for the pics

It's just storage. There is no refrigerator, no water, no lp gas (although you could add it for a heater).
It's bare bones for a pop-up. But it does meet our needs. We like to camp with our friends who all have tents.

I'm actually thinking of painting the "Element" name on it in Tangerine. Maybe even some accents.

There are two bars, one on each side. That part of the frame is rated to hold 1100 pounds. Not a problem. My wife tosses and turns alot when sleeping. The bed doesn't shake any more than at home.;-)
hiker chick 05-24-2007, 02:33 PM Great pics! :) I'm always curious to see Elements pulling pop-ups.
How long does it take to do that camp setup?
CrazyMan 05-24-2007, 03:56 PM It took about 45 min the first time. Once I got the hang of it, it took less time to break it down. I'm sure it will take less to put up the next time. It's much easier than tents and blow up mattresses. Almost all our gear fits in the camper, and STAYS there. No more loading up totes and unloading. 8)
Heather 05-24-2007, 04:52 PM I just LOVE that! I cannot believe all that came from the little box!! I am sending this to my hubby.....a girl can dream!!!
CrazyMan 05-25-2007, 05:33 AM Heather, apparently there is some concern that Fleetwood discontinued this model. We had a hard time locating this one. There may have only been 2 or 3 in the whole region. Good luck in your search. This Element camper isn't the only option out there. There are more expensive options.:)
lwclancers 05-25-2007, 06:47 AM Is the stuffed dog essential for a camping trip? ;-)
gilmour25 05-25-2007, 06:55 AM Someone here bought one in Maryland recently for $2000.
That would be me :D
I got a 2006 with battery, LP tank & heater for $1890. Nice!
Though I'd gladly trade in that heater for the roof rack you have!
And, CrazyMan, I'm a little freaked out.... not only do I also have the Element Neon camper but I also have the same Target Eddie Bauer chairs that you have http://forums.phishhook.com/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif. WHOA
:-P
BTW, the dealer I worked with originally told me that Fleetwood was discontinuing the Element Neon... but then changed his info. Also, the one they had on the showroom floor (which was a 2006) had a display stand next to it that for the 2007 model (which, of course, comes standard with the roof rack  ).
We're hoping to take ours out next weekend http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

I haven't yet used the roof rack (they're Yakimas). I could put my load warrior basket on it. Although I wonder about the tongue weight increasing.
Those Eddie Bauer chairs are nice.
I haven't seen it confirmed by Fleetwood that the Element series will be discontinued. But there are always conflicting reports. I have mine, for that I am happy.
We plan on taking the dogs with us camping the weekend after Memorial Day.
Those little doggies take up as much room as we humans do. Should be interesting in that queen sized bed.:-P
CrazyMan 05-25-2007, 12:54 PM Is the stuffed dog essential for a camping trip? ;-)
Yes. As per my wife's prerogative. Just wait til we take both our little dogs (the real ones) camping. Should be interesting.:???:
gilmour25 05-25-2007, 08:31 PM CrazyMan, did you not have to tie down your awning?
EDIT to add: The Buddha is very cool.
CrazyMan 05-29-2007, 05:42 AM I didn't have to tie the awning down that day. There was little to no breeze. It held up just fine.
dancetiludrop 05-30-2007, 03:14 PM Looks good...what's your gas milage when pulling that thing? Any difference?
CrazyMan 05-31-2007, 05:19 AM I haven't towed it but twice as of yet. I just started tracking mileage again after my first 5k oil change / service. I don't expect too bad of a hit. I would guess in the mid to high teens.
PopUpSteve 06-03-2007, 11:56 AM Looks great CrazyMan, I've been thinking of getting one to replace me 85 Coleman Columbia. If I could get one for $2000 I would do it in a heart beat.
Both you and gilmour25 should checkout my site, PopUpPortal.com. Lots of other PopUp Camper there with lots of info.

I joined a couple weeks ago :D
DUPSMN 06-03-2007, 08:28 PM I did a lil research and found this link for Fleetwood RV's. It's in the "element" series and is called the "neon".....It may not be the same exact one but it's pretty close. Sent them an email to get a price quote. Will post it asap.

Going to have to start an E2 (Element & Element) section on the PUP if this keep up. I know of 6 members who have both.

That's the same thing.
The average price is usually around $3-4K. I lucked out and got a new '06 for just under $2K.
e-klectic 06-20-2007, 10:30 PM We have two little girls. There's no way all 4 of us could sleep in that, is there?
Any suggestions for a pop up close to that size for 4?
CrazyMan 06-21-2007, 05:17 AM You could go with the Element Cobalt model. It's the next model up from the Neon. Costs twice as much but comes with all the usual amenities. There are a few models of standard pop-up campers out there within the 1500 lb limit.
e-klectic 07-01-2007, 11:13 PM I'm thinking that the wife and I could sleep in the bed and both girls could fit on the foldout...at least for now (they're 6 and 9). The other option would be to have a blow up twin on the ground. Would that fit?
CrazyMan 07-02-2007, 05:53 AM The floor of the Neon is quite narrow. I doubt even a single blow up bed would fit. Two kids on the fold out bench ? I could barely lay down on it. The Neon really is only suited for two, maybe three people.
You probably ought to look into larger pop-ups.

According to the Fleetwood site a 6 and 9 yr old could easily fit on the bench that converts into a bed. It's 78" long and 30" wide, but I think it's actually wider than that.
GoShoryuken 07-08-2007, 10:18 PM Dang, that's just fantastic! That's on my to buy list once the loan is paid off.
kissya 07-09-2007, 08:29 AM Wow....love that pop-up. Thanks for posting the pics.:)

We looked at some of the A Liner models. Although they are nice, they have had some issues with the floors rotting out after a few years. Also the latches that hold the panels together are prone to giving out.
All that for 18k !!!! No thanks.

Have you towed it with your "E" yet?
haulingstuff 11-06-2007, 07:26 PM This thread got me to thinking, watch out for that.
Here's a little bike camper in MN for $975

Hey--I saw your pics on the A Liner board. You got that for $7K???!! The dealer out here wants $8999. His had the furnace, the electrical, electric brakes and front/rear big windows. I kinda thought his price seemed high. It was the same low-wall model like yours, but your interior fabric is different. His was more brown.
I know what I'm asking my husband for this Christmas!!! Thank you! I'm emailing him the link to this thread right now!!

Other than the initial figuring-out, what takes so long to set up?
No electric either? Do you plan to use a generator?
I think the Neon is a great option for the E.
PopUpSteve 11-10-2007, 02:53 PM Speaking of were to put gear, take a look at ELEMENTDUDE's G-bags. On his listing for "Storage solution for Pop-Up campers! Original G-bags!" it shows how great they fit in the Fleetwood Element Neon (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&_trksid=m37&satitle=G-bags+storage&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=17601&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1).

So have you used the Scout much? How is it doing behind the E?

what's the engine? Cummins isb? air brakes?
PopUpSteve 12-05-2007, 02:26 PM I didn't think the engine in the "E" was powerful enough to push an RV of that size. :D
A66auto 12-05-2007, 07:43 PM It's fine, just turn off the overdrive!

carvingbarn 12-06-2007, 07:51 AM I have been looking camp trailers to go with the E. I think this is a good possibility. Has any one had a KampaRoo trailer? They look great. And have a weight of 800 lbs. If any one has any information on it I would like some feed back. Thanks.

PopUpSteve 12-06-2007, 10:28 AM I recall that at least one member on my site (PopUpPortal.com) had a KampaRoo, but I can't remember who. They do make a great camper. I really like their slide-out kitchen unit but I think that is only available on their larger models. There is a link to their site and all pop-up manufactures on the lower left-hand side on the home page of PopUpPortal.com.

Hey DogBox,
No need for a generator where we camp. For us, it's essentially a tent on wheels. That's the way we like to camp. We've taken it camping three times since Memorial Day. It's down to about 10-15 minutes just for the camper. We also have a 10x10 First Up pavilion we got from Walmart. Then there's the gear.
All together it's about 45 minutes to get all the stuff up.
