I've been searching here, and can't find anything on the specifics of the TPMS. I'm curious what the sensor looks like, what powers the sensor in each wheel, etc, etc... I know what, I want to know how...

just curious...

thanks...

Thanks a bunch. That's what I was looking for... especially the battery...

So, I assume when the battery dies you buy a new valve stem... and I'm sure its recommended only Honda should install them. Probably just a good idea to swap them when new tires are needed, or find a way to disable the system?

Now, more importantly why do I have a $20k+ vehicle with all kinds of safety features, and electronic gizmos, but NO variable wiper setting???

Are the TPMS sensors in a given set of wheels specific to the car they belonged to originally?

I just put the 07 EX wheels from Drew's E on my car and after about ten miles only the "TPMS" indicator lit up - not the low air symbol.

Any way I can reset this?

The vehicle computer "knows" which 4 TPMS sensors belong to it. When you installed your buddy's wheels, the signals from his TPMS sensors didn't match what your vehicle computer was expecting, so it lit the light. The tool to re-acquaint the vehicle computer with the new TPMS sensors costs ~$300.00. The dealer will have the tool and can do the reprogramming for you.

it's gonna be PITA to swap rims and tires.

If you can get NHTSA to mandate variable wipers as a necessary safety feature, I'm sure Honda would put that on all their models as well, instead of just the higher end models.

and I thought an EX was a higher end model. our 03 Civic EX has them... :(

For my new '07, I had the dealer keep the stock wheels/tires and put on the same ASA JS6 and Yoko Geolandars that I already had. Now I kinda wish I had the TPMS stems, if only to make that goddamn light on the dash to shut off. Any idea how much it would cost to take it over to an average dealer and have them install a set for me? *hoping it's not outrageous*
