I would like to install the OEM security system in our new EX-P when it arrives but the dealer wants waaaay to much. I'm prepared to install it myself and have located the security system and attachment kit from a Canadian dealer but the kit is available in the US for approx. half the price.
My question is, is there a difference between the Canadian and US parts and will the US kit work in a Canadian vehicle? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

No difference that I know of....
don't get me started - rant starts now....
The disparity of OEM parts costs between Canada and the US has been a much discussed issue, not only here, but with everyone I've spoken to, with just about everything!
Basically, everything costs more in Canada, because: a) we have a smaller market, and b) retailers / manufacturers can get away with it.
My advise - find a friend in the states, and get your parts shipped to them. then go visit your friend....no, wait, I can't give that advise....nevermind.....
I have the OEM security system. It works fine but it is nothing to write home about, especially given its cost.
Why not get an aftermarket system? Most have more bells and whistles and if you get it professionally installed you will get a warranty (at a fraction of the cost of the OEM as well).

The OEM is so easy to install, even a Canadian can do it. just kidding
Your Honda is already wired for it so you just attach it to the mount under the dash and plug in a couple wires. 20 min. job. Actually the hardest part is installing the LED (on the steering column) and the microphone (next to the shifter).

Thanks to all who responded. I wasn't concerned with the installation of the alarm, but whether the US alarm was compatible with the Canadian vehicle. I've since been able to compare the installation instructions for both and, as far as I can tell, the only difference is that the Canadian attachment kit includes a flange nut which is used to attach the vehicle electronics unit to the new vehicle bracket (the one used to mount the alarm unit under the dash). Otherwise, things look very similar.
I know there are other wiring differences up here - eg. daytime running lights in Canada - hence my concern.
