: Cruise control button
jtallen 06-02-2007, 04:39 PM My 07 EX model has a cruise control button to the left of the steering wheel. Since the first day I bought it I have left that button turned on and only use the steering wheel controls for cruise control. How many of you do the same?
I think I used my cruise control once...maybe twice in the two years I've had my E. So, no...I keep it off.
Seattle SC 06-02-2007, 09:34 PM Turned it on the day I got the E and it's never been off.

I hear ya.. but it makes me wonder... there's got to be a reason for the button. I just don't know what it is. You'd think the cancel button on the steering wheel would serve as the off button.
Seattle SC 06-02-2007, 10:27 PM On several cars I've had there was a master off button for the cruise control.
Maybe all of them have it.
Probably a safety mandate so it cannot be "accidentally" engaged.
But the cruise control on any vehicle I've had never failed, and I never turned them off.
rymo926 06-02-2007, 10:46 PM i leave it on, but other people keep turning it off, like the mechanic, friends, who ever
NOSkweezePSI 06-03-2007, 01:42 AM I too keep it on in both my E and Pilot. I use it daily just to keep me out of trouble.
Flobox 06-03-2007, 02:35 AM I always leave it on in the Element, but it's always off in my wife's Mazda.
In the Mazda, the master toggle button is also wheel mounted, and the indicator is a "Cruise Control On" indicator on the instrument panel. I generally get tired of glancing down because I think a dummy light has tripped.
xequar 06-06-2007, 10:26 AM I barely ever use the cruise, so I leave the switch off so I don't accidentally set the cruise as I'm turning or something.
biocube 06-06-2007, 02:31 PM its been on since the day i bought the element, as i use the cruise every day (both for gas miliage and to limit my leadfoot tendencies)
but the light burnt out after two years
devilwillride 06-06-2007, 02:42 PM Mine has also been on since the day I bought my 'E', as it was on my previous Honda (1995 Accord). I use my cruise virtually everytime I get in the car.

I dont use the cruise everytime I get in the car but the button is in such an awkward place I just never fool with it. I leave it turned on.
Heather 06-08-2007, 04:16 PM Mine stays on, unless I accidentally hit it wil my knee.
lizzurd 06-08-2007, 04:17 PM I very rarely use my cruise.....but i leave the button on anyways....its in an odd spot to just glance at when driving to see if its on......

Our E is primarily my wife's daily driver and the cruise stays on all the time in it as well. I drove it to work yesterday and discovered that the light is burned out on our cruise as well. She probably won't notice, but it drove me nuts trying to figure out what was wrong.

beat me to the punch.
same here.
StevieSegel 07-05-2007, 12:34 PM Don't think I ever used it in my 03 -- not even once. Not even on long trips. Guess I have "control issues" :)
Have yet to use it in new E, maybe I'll give it a try :)
Always leave it on. At 27K miles, the light went off but CC works fine...
Alaskan_Toaster 08-30-2007, 07:41 PM The "Cancel" button on the steering wheel is only to cancel the current cruise setting that you have, not the turn the whole system off. All the vehicles I have had have the cancel feature (dating back to '92), just in different positions. I leave my main switch in the on position, as I use my cruise quite often, mainly for gas mileage.
Hope this helps..... :razz::rolleyes:
jdiane 08-30-2007, 08:28 PM Our 91 Accord has the same setup for the steering wheel controls and the master switch is off to the left of the steering wheel, kinda close to the same position as in my E....
...the more things change, the more they stay the same...:)
Gritsbay 08-30-2007, 10:06 PM It is always on for me. I like things to be simple, and hitting two buttons everytime I want the cruise on is too much work.
fral659 10-16-2007, 10:31 AM Compared to all the other cars I've had with cruise, this one has the worst location for the on/off button. But at least it remembers the setting so everytime you shut off and restart the car, the cruise remembers if it was on or off. All my other cars had the on/off switch on the steering wheel, but if you had it ON when you shut off the car, when you restarted the car it would be OFF. But at least it was in an easy spot to turn on again. So on my E, I just leave it on, as I use the cruise almost evertime I drive the car.
McNasty 10-16-2007, 10:57 AM I'd leave mine on but there is a short in it. Sometimes it works but if I leave it on, it will randomly kick cruise control on. Not the safest thing. Most of the time I can't even set the cruise, its wack. Anybody had the same problem? I love cruise control though, keeps me out of tickets:)
Flashbox 10-16-2007, 12:23 PM Mine is always on, and i love that! Makes my life easy! In fact until i read this thread I had forgot all about the on/off switch.
