Recently I've noticed a frustrating level of distortion during quite passages of music using an HK Drive + Play with an 80 Gig iPod video. The brain of the unit is in the arm-rest center console (SC) with the power chord (from the brain) plugged into the aux power also in the console. The audio out from the brain is plugged into the SC's aux in in the console. Where could the distortion be coming from? I used a 3.5mm plug from the headphone jack to the aux in and there is no distortion. But when going through the HK with the unit plugged in to the iPod's bottom port/dock the distortion is audible and frustrating. I noticed if I fiddle with the iPod while it's plugged into the HK the distorition fluctuates. Any one else have the problem?

sounds like the plug isn't making good contact. I'd return the HK Drive + Play.

You probably have a ground loop. I've noticed that problem as well. My fix was to wire the ground of the cigarette lighter to chassis ground as close to the lighter as possible. It fixed the problem for me.
