I need to run a power cord from my cb radio to the battery. Is there a way to run the wires to the engine compartment without drilling thru the firewall?

Why not just tap into the under dash fuse box with an add-a-circuit?

What amperage is the fuse for the CB?

See this thread for more info http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33755&highlight=circuit

The best way to get clean power without noise is for a cb is running a direct line to the battery. I have it tapped into the under dash fusebox now.

I found a great place to run the wires while installing my off road lights.

In the driver's side footwell of the E, look on the left side wall.
There is a flap in the insulation about 1 foot above where your left foot would be sitting.
Under the flap of insulation you'll find a small grommet with one cable running through it into the space between the steel fender and the outter fender cladding.

I was able to push two 12awg wires through the grommet and fish them out with one of those long skinny claw-thingys.
once the wire is in the fender, you can fish it up into the engine compartment right behind the battery.

Just be sure to use good wire with a durable sheath that is resistant to heat and chafing.

:edit:
It just dawned on me that I have my camera with me at work today. I'll try to get a picture for you a little later.

In the ignition harness there is a solid white wire. This is a direct 12v battery connection that the car uses to start. It's clean. I used it to power my head unit and EQs. No distortion. Just tap it and add a fuse holder with the appropriate size of fuse. This is the same wire an aftermarket security system would use. Incidentally, many other wires, including ignition, are there too.

Can you explain where exactly this white wire is, would love to tap it instead of going to the battery.

Can someone please tell me how to get constant non keyed power under the drivers seat? I have a ham radio with a detachable face and would like to install the unit under the seat. I really have no idea where to start.

thanks,

Jason

...constant non keyed power under the drivers seat

Welcome, Kemper28.

Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box (http://www.skidmore.edu/~pdwyer/e/udfrb.htm)
Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box (http://www.skidmore.edu/~pdwyer/e/uhfrb.htm)
Note that those keys are for 2004 MY. We don't know your E's year--how 'bout filling in your profile?

Oh, and don't disturb the wires under the seats.
