Has anyone ever tried these?

Since it's self amplified, I was thinking of getting one for my truck, since I don't need to buy any seperate amp. I heard they aren't very good, but anyone know why?

Anyone personally tried it?

TIA

In my old car, I had replaced the OEM headunit with a Sony and then added an Audiobahn self-amplified bass tube in the truck. It was a hatchback, and it sounded great. On the other hand, the factory speakers were actually really quite good.

My current car has the upgraded OEM stereo in it, which I'm not going to replace with the Sony (which wll, eventually, end up in the Element). I haven't gotten around to putting the Audiobahn tube in it 'coz I'm lazy and there's extra wiring to go with the fact that I have to work around the stock system's outputs.

As far as subwoofers go, it sounded very good. Its not goign to sound as good as a massively powerful system that's designed from the ground up, but for the $200 I paid for it it was nothing to sneeze at. It was loud, and it would thump enough that I could irritate the neighbours, but I generally tried to keep it at a more reasonable level so I wouldn't be That Guy.

I opted for the Audiobahn coz it was cheaper than a Bazooka. I'd do it again.

I had a self-powered Bazooka bass tube behind the seat in an extended cab Toyota pick-up.
Worked great.
Filled the cab with sound, and I could throw stuff on top of it without worrying about any speaker damage.

Same experience only in a NIssan Hardbody Kingcab.

I have 3 of these, One in my Odyssey, One in the wifes CRV and one in my friends CRV and they sound great when set up correctly.

I agree with everyone above. Convenient & sounds good. You won't win any SPL or SQL contests with one, but it's great for a daily driver. I have 2 I'm procrastinating installing in my E.

The new line of tubes are quite nice. My friends shop is going to do 2 old school 4 runners with nothing but 12" bazookas for demo cars for car shows
