I used to do survey phone calls for Checker, Kragen and Shucks auto part stores west of the Mississippi and one of the questions asked to customers we called was, "what brand of car wash cleaner are you using to clean your car or truck with?"
9 calls out of 10, the response was, "we're using Dawn Dishwashing Liquid." I have been using it on previous vehicles for the past 7 years and it doesn't streak and it really puts the shine in the paint without a soapy film. :)

I would think that since dawn is so good at cutting through grease, it would cut through any wax that was on your paint, too.
I believe car wash soap is formulated to not remove car wax, or at least minimize it.
I bet that the paint is "squeaky" clean after using dishwashing soap.

Zanio Brother car polish system is the best. It is for show cars. I love it. I have been using it for years. It talks about Dawn on their site. Dawn is used to take all waxes OFF before you start their system.

Dawn is known for its ability to strip and remove wax. I use it once a year on my Mustang to strip the old wax and then do a full detail. Using Dawn as a regular wash soap is not good for a cars finish.

I agree. I used it when I need to strip the old wax off of the cars but then I am sure to wash the car immediately after with car soap and then put a nice layer of wax over top.

Please don't use Dawn or any dishsoap to wash your car on an ongoing basis. There are car wash soaps for a reason. Dish soaps are way to harsh and should only be used when you want to strip all the wax off your car. Just because it is squeaky clean doesn't mean it is any cleaner then a car wash soap.

Professional detailers in my area almost always use Dawn to strip off the old wax and road film before a detail job. Stick with a quality, mild car wash product to protect and preserve your wax job.

After spending the day putting Zaino Z-5, Z-6, and using the clay bar...all after a wash with dawn, I would highly recommend adding something to the car after a wash with Dawn.
anyone using dawn to wash their vehicles is not very smart.
even to strip wax prior to Zaino there are much more affective methods such as paint cleaners, prepsol or 50/50 mix of ISO alcohol and distilled water.
dawn is for dishes (check the PH)
