Just got off the phone with a K&N technician that had the good fortune to tour their R&D lab. He says he saw the Element Typhoon SR (short ram) sitting on the table with all the other new units. He could not guarantee but thought that it would be released along with about 20 others October 1st, if not then certainly with the final 15 by December 31st.
He went on to say that with the Typhoon, you get a "Drycharger" sock that goes over the air filter, this takes away all the issues with highway moisture, it does not prevent the issues if you submerge it. Apparently the filter can pass 30% more air then the engine can breath so the 3% restriction the sock adds does not change the air or 5-8% hp gain (at the wheel or engine). Price for the CRV Typhoon is $324 list, he said about $209 discounted.
I'm wondering if the drycharger will fit on the Injen unit, has anybody compared the Injen to the Typhoon on the CRV? Curious which one gives better performance?
