Could be that E drivers spend more time driving their E's then we do waxing them.....

That's no fun for a wash and wax-aholic

For insights into buying an Element you could start here.

Whatever you do, don't go into the "Family" thread without an escort.

Yeah, perhaps not the most tactful approach by the OP but, hey, we're a forgiving bunch aren't we!

Welcome Ubet it! Stick around, do some reading and you will get lots of good advice on buying an E as well as waxing it.

I was just curious what see what products you guys are using. It's funny how different boards cling to different products.

I didn't mean to offend when I said it was dead in here but I see many days with no posts.

Don't worry, you have not offended anyone. Your question was and is perfectly reasonable.

There has never been a Zaino vs Zymol thread on here which is pretty strange for an automotive forum. It's probably one of the few. lol

I am a diehard Zaino user if that gives you any indication. :)

Personally, I think the E looks so much better dirty. It just fits its personality. Sure, S2K's are nice and sleek and need to be shiny...not the E though.

I use Zaino Z2 pro and CS or Optimum Opti-seal on my wife's daily driver. I prefer Wolfgang topped with Souveran on my toy car and QD (quick detail spray) it when driven with FK1 425. My daily beater gets Zaino Z2 a few times a year with a weekly Polycharger boosted FK1 146 quick detailer.

I have a ton of product and machine experience that's why I wound up here first. I love detailing and have been doing for it 20 years both for money (early on) and hobby.

There is a lot of info here.....and the range of E's here is pretty broad....from show cars to just daily drivers.

Hang around do some reading and give the place a chance. At the very least you will get some good info.

Hey speak for yourself!! Some of us like to see our reflections in our hoods :D

I personally prefer to use Meguiars products, however I have come to find that the Turtle Wax Ice Wax is pretty good for quick washes/waxes. I like to wash the car once a week if I can and do a really good wax/polish once every month or two. If I am doing a full detail I use Meguiars NXT wax which is incredible. If I am just doing a quick wash, I will use the Ice Wax on the entire car (plastic included). This spring I started using the meguiars clay bar kit and it made a huge difference. It took off about a year and a half's worth of grime and made the paint smooth as glass. I don't get into the zaino stuff, but I have seen some phenominal results on black elements (there is a thread somewhere, just do a search). And I use 303 Aerospace on my plastic panels and interior when I am not using the turtle wax ice to get my panels shiny and protected.

I suspect car care is less of an issue on this forum for three reasons (I'm making assumptions here in generalizing about EOC members):

1) There was/is not a lot of paint to polish on original Elements -- hence less visual payoff for the effort. I'm sure I would polish mine a lot more if the fenders were painted. On my '01 crystal blue Miata, upon which I was obsessive about layering Zaino, it was the curves of the fenders that best showed off the Zaino. The Element's flat planes, don't.

2) A lot of us bought the Element convinced it was ugly, or not sure that it wasn't (isn't). Who obsesses over detailing a car they think is ugly or isn't sure is cool-looking?

3) The Element's #1 appeal for most of us is its utility, not its aesthetic. As with the ugly car syndrome, who obsesses with detailing Chevy Astrovans or UPS trucks --the Element's utilitarian doppelgangers?

I like a clean and polished Element and have spent many hours claying and putting Zaino on mine, but there's no shame in a dirty E. Mine looks comfortably lived in when it's dirty.

Like distressed leather.

A dirty sports car just looks neglected.

E's were developed/marketed for the 'active' folks. We are too busy doing the following "E" activities to overlaod the forums.

Other then the first 2, the remaining are listed by stream of conciousness.

1. Modding our Es (yes, I think this comes before driving the Es)
2. Driving or E's
3. Attending 'E'vents
4. Running
5. Biking
6. Hiking
7. Scuba Diving/snorkeling
8. Swimming
9. Golfing
10. Kayaking/Boating
11. Fishing
12. Shopping
13. Dating
14. Raising families
15. Working or enjoying retirement
and for me personally.....

You sure that list isn't by your priorities? The stream of conscious speaks a lot about people... especially when things related to the E are all the way up top :razz:
