Aloha.
I’m over on the Big Island. There isn’t much selection at the dealerships over here, will probably be buying an Element over on Oahu, and just wanted some feedback on buying experiences with dealerships on Oahu.
Honda Windward, Tony Honda, or Pfluger Honda?
Mahalo!

Honda Windward !! I believe they have been winning dealer awards for customer service for years (that's what I heard) I also know they are willing to give the best prices out of all the other Honda dealers. I went to Pfluger, Tony, and ended up buying at Windward Honda...Kevin Asahara was the best...If anything try going to all the others before you go to Windward or you can skip the hassle and just go straight to Windward Honda...Yeah I am a bit biased but this is from my experiences....cool

Mahalo for the response elemento.
Did Honda Windward drag you through the long drawn-out haggling process, or do they pretty much just cut to the bottom line?

Not much haggling...I told them what the other dealers best price was and they tried their best to beat it and to this day I haven't seen a better deal than the one they gave me. They beat the competitions best by almost a grand..good luck...

Oopps left out that you should do an estimate online first. That way you will get the best price. Internet sales estimate through the dealer will open you up for a better price than any on the lot sales man can give you. Hope this aint too late.

Hi All,
Just got my '07 with the Costco buying program through Honda Windward and have to say that it was the best car shopping experience I've had so far. I even had a friend that worked at Tony but the process they go through to purchase was too much. The only time I would not go through the costco program is if you have really great credit and have good negotiating skills. If you have moderate credit and/or have no wish to haggle and play mind games, then these are the steps we went through:
1-Register at Costco.com (must be a costco member)
2-Honda/Costco rep will call you to setup an appointment ("Gunner" is the contact at Honda windward)
3-At your appointment time, Gunner will show you any possible detail for the care you are interested in. He knows his stuff pretty well (for a salesperson, not a mechanic)
4-Prices are pre-negotiated by costco and are shown to you in printed form. The MFG retail price, invoice price, and current costco member purchase price.
When all was said and done, the actual price of the car was below invoice, but I also purchased one of the last '07s so they dumped some extra accessories on me. Overall my best buying experience so far. BTW, I'm from Big Island too, so I know what you mean about the big island car dealers. You'll make the money back buying it from Oahu and taking the trip rather than staying home and dealing with the local dealer.
