: Cat teaches old dog new tricks
flatlander 08-01-2007, 08:43 PM I was sitting here surfing EOC when my cat jumped up on the desk for attention. Had my tunes on in the background. She was really irritating me and would not get out from in front of the screen and keyboard. I was using my wireless mouse and not using the keyboard. She sat down with her butt and tail on the keyboard.
When I tried to scroll using the thumbwheel the image on the screen suddenly magnified when scrolling down and shrunk when scrolling up. I thought what the f*&K is going on. Suddenly the music stopped as well.
-After she got her butt off I found that if I hold the CONTROL key down while using the scroll wheel the magnifier is activated.
-Hitting the space bar activated pause on my music player.
And she taught me all this in one sitting!
gisele 08-02-2007, 06:32 AM See your kitty felt it was time for you to update your skills. Smart kitty.
I knew about the magnifier, but not about space bar pause...thanks kitty! (that's an extra tuna for you)
Twilightzero 08-02-2007, 08:35 AM Just remember, cats are FAR smarter than most give them credit for. They just lack the motivation to please us that dogs have :D
I hope you rewarded your cat with the proper amount of cookies...
Mine did that once with the VCR.
flatlander 08-02-2007, 12:56 PM Purr was rewarded with fresh cat nip from the front yard. I know that makes me an enabler but she deserved something.
ORANGEE 08-03-2007, 08:04 AM OOPS, thought this was the thread about CATS weekeend date...........

 Proof of CATs fame or infamy!

We're all enablers, I have several HUGE catnip plants out in the garden. I love watching them get stoned :D
♪♫ I want to get hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh, soooooooooooo hiiiiiiiiiiiigh! ♫♪
OOPS, thought this was the thread about CATS weekeend date...........
No, Orangee, I won't go out with you, you old dog, you.
Ranger 08-13-2007, 01:21 PM She sat down with her butt and tail on the keyboard.
Ewe.
I hope you wiped off the keyboard with a wetnap or something.
Cats all too often have nasty little dingleberries.

Ok you lost me at dingleberry on this thread....
Hate to break this to you Ranger but the cat's butt is probably cleaner than your hands!
Maybe anybodies hands, but certainly yours!
:D
BTW dogs have WAY worse problems with dingleberries than cats.

At least you hung-in there until the end.

GROSS!!!
None of my dogs!
It's funny though, this reminds me of what my brother and I tend to do when the other is not paying attention. I don't know how it started, but whenever appropriate;
i.e. after "adjusting" or coming out of the bathroom, ect., I'll swipe my finger under his nose (ala Dirty Sanchez style:shock:) and ask him if that smells right to him.
"Smell my finger; does that smell right to you?"
Pisses him off something fierce.
So, sometimes, you may not be that far from the truth.:-D
flatlander 08-14-2007, 06:26 PM For the record I do wipe the keyboard down. I think it really doesn't matter because I see her sitting alot of other places in the house where her a$$ really shouldn't be. I try to not think about it.
Ranger 08-15-2007, 12:50 PM Cats are so nasty but I guess dogs aren't all that "clean" all the time either.
One of my parents Ridgebacks LOVES to scoot her @$$ across the carpet
while making a cycling motion with her back legs. She REALLY gets into it
too; ears pulled back and this look of sheer satisfaction on her face.
All the women in the room get grossed out, but I'm usually laughing too hard to tell her to stop. I just try to remember not to lay in that general area later.

Don't know what cats you've been hanging around but almost all of them I've known are TIMES cleaner than dogs. Other than cleaning the litter every few days and cleaning up the occasional hairball, they don't need any other physical maintenance than that. They keep themselves fastidiously clean and tidy and are always washing themselves.
Dogs like to roll in poop and weeks-dead animals. 'Nuff said.

I have a rule against any animal that $h!+$ in my house on purpose.
Just the fact that cats yak up hairballs is gross enough to make my @$$ pucker.
I have a rule against any animal that $h!+$ in my house on purpose....
Guess that's why you have so few houseguests huh?
Twilightzero 08-15-2007, 03:39 PM I think I'd rather have animals that know to use a toilet than animals that roll in poop
Then again I have both so who am I to talk?
Ranger 08-15-2007, 06:09 PM Guess that's why you have so few houseguests huh?
Yep...I make them hold it.
"Go stink up your own house!" That's my motto.:D
Some (very few) cats may be able to use the toilet, but then we're back to that nasty
dingleberry issue brought on by that fluffy, cottony hair and the lack of opposable thumbs.
Not to mention they don't flush that little hair-ridden floater down.
:-P

Not to mention EATING poop.
Cats so rule it's not even funny... and dogs eat poop.
Ranger 08-15-2007, 09:44 PM I'll admit it, I've seen dogs eat poop, none of mine, but I have seen it happen.
But they also eat cats; so they redeem themselves.
:-D
