: Finally made my choice
funkytown 08-21-2007, 02:42 PM Tomorrow going to get my Cooper Discoverer H/T tires and get rid of the bad-Year ones. Cooper tire people on board here please check in and let me see what your tires look like!!!!! Also thinking of new wheels down the road. How do you like your Coopers after driving on them for awhile. They HAVE to be better then the Wranglers.......
funkytown 08-21-2007, 03:37 PM Plus I got $40 off right now with a special going on. I think I will be pleased overall with them.
Hajidub 08-21-2007, 04:49 PM Keep us posted on the these. How much were they, which model? I was a poser and went with the Geolanders, haven't been happier.
funkytown 08-21-2007, 05:03 PM I was also looking at the Yoko Geolanders, but went ahead with these because they had a $40 off on them. Total they were $450 for 4, with balancing/mounting, road hazard, tax, and lifetime rotation. That's just about what I wanted to pay, so I was happy!
ApriliaGuy 08-22-2007, 08:22 AM I have their ATRs size 225/70. Very happy the last 10,000 miles (snow/rain/dirt/field/highway/etc)

wmk7479 08-22-2007, 09:36 AM fwiw, that's very similar to the Avon Ranger (Avon is owned by Cooper) and I'm very pleased with mine.
funkytown 08-22-2007, 04:27 PM Very happy with them....got them installed this morning, and they seem nice and quiet. Also got my Southcoast carpet delivered today, so put that in this afternoon......charcoal grey......love it. Looks I'm all set for awhile.....
Will try and get some pics posted in the next day or two....busy at work.

I believe the Coopers are a Goodyear brand that are actually very similar to the hated Wranglers and are made in some of the same factories.
My Geolandars were $86 each and $419 out the door. Same list of includes.
funkytown 08-29-2007, 03:13 PM Drove them in a rainstorm the other day....no slip/sliding like the Wranglers were! I was very happy with them, so far. We'll see once winter gets here. Truth be known, so many of the tire companies are sub-owned by others. I'm not an aggressive driver so I should get some pretty decent mileage out of these vs. the OEM's which were toast at 23000.
Twilightzero 08-30-2007, 09:33 AM Glad to hear they're doing well for ya, Funkytown! C'mon you know you want to drive like Mario Andretti!!

LOL I actually always freak out my co-workers who ride with me to lunch with how nimble the Element is, and that's without even pushing it too hard! Only the brave ride with me now!

Maybe you're thinking of Dunlop or Kelly (or even Fulda )tires.....but to my knowledge, Cooper is not part of the Goodyear corporate family.
They are based in Ohio though. Cooper owns Avon (Tyre) and produces a variety of tires under the Mastercraft, Dean, Kenda, starfire, and Oliver brand names (http://www.coopertire.com/us/en/additionalBrands.asp).
As a big fan of Cooper....I just had to set the record straight.:) Don't get me wrong.. Good-Year makes some good tires, but I don't think the stock Wranglers are some of 'em.
