: What size polishing machine? What pads?

I was wondering what size polishing machine is optimal for the E? There is a 4" one on sale here (Simoniz 4-inch Cordless polisher), however I wonder whether a 7" wouldn't be much better.

Also a question to the applicator and polishing pads. When detailing by hand, I used a cruder blue foam/terry polishing pad for applying polishes and a finer yellow applicator for applying wax/synthetic sealants.

The polishing machines come with a foam wax applicator (for applying wax/synthetic sealants ????) and microfibre polishing pads (for buffing I guess). What pad should I use for applying pre-wax polishes?

Jurgen

PS. Other polishers come with polishing bonnets (cotton), wax applicators, and terry cloth buffing.

If you are interested in buffing with an electric buffer I would suggest taking a look at the Meguiar's G100 DA Polisher. It is a rebadged Porter Cable DA sander. Because the unit is a DA polisher it is excellent for people that want to buff by machine, but have never done it before. There is tons of info about the unit at the Meguiar's link below and also a video that shows you exactly what to do step by step. I also included a great place to buy the G100 that is a authorized Meguiar's dealer.

PS...I have nothing to gain from this post. I simply have bought a G100 from the dealer below with the video and love it so I wanted to share my happiness with the product and service!!

Great shop to buy detailing stuff from:

I agree with 1fastvx. The Meguiars/Porter-Cable DA is a great tool. Every spring, our Miata club has a detail day and a rep from Meguiars comes and demomstrates and teaches. He had his own detailing business before going to work with Meguiars. I have learned so much from him and his discussions regarding the DA convinced me to buy one. I bought mine at Lowes but had to buy the vecro attachment disc separately. If you buy from Meguiars, it comes with a lifetime warranty.
