I am in the market for new tires in September, what are your thoughs on the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051? I live in MD, so we have pretty mild winters (compared to my hometown of Waterloo, Ontario!), but still wanted to see how the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051s handled in winter conditions. What is your experience with these in:

(A) Durability
(B) Winter conditions
(C) Wet/rainy conditions
(D) Road Noise
(E) Impact on MPGs?
(F) Light off-roading

Appreciate the feedback in advance!!!!

I think offhand rolling resistance (and the accompanying hit on mileage) may be a disadvantage.

Instead of Yoko I got Toyo Open Country HT's. Quiter, handle better than Geolanders. Better wet weather traction. Paid a little over $400 out the door from Radial Tire in Silver Spring and I travel over an hour to gethere since there prices beat Tire Rack and anybody else.

You kidding? I got 1.5 mpg better than those Goodyears that came on the car!

I am very happy with the Geolandars. We did not get to test any winter driving characteristics here last year, but in the 26K miles I have on mine have been good.

Ride is far better than the Goodyears. Rainy weather grip is good, certainly far better than the Goodyears. Dry grip is far better, as there is no slipping while getting out into traffic.

$86 each at discounttiredirect.com

Discount tire's shop here in town mounted them for $16 per tire.

I just spoke with my buddy who is a parts manager for an Acura dealership in Ontario, and he indicated that both Acura and Honda sell Yokohama Geolandar tires in Ontario. Apparently, they are stock on some models.

I wish the US based Honda dealership would switch from the Goodyear's to the Yokohama Geolandar tires as stock!

I have the Yokos from Discount Tire too. Put them on about 2 months ago and they are the best! Great ride and they are quieter than the stock GY Wranglers. I went with the 235 size and they are fantastic! Very happy with my decision to buy them...I bet you'll love 'em too!

What make you choose the bigger size?

Strictly looks...I love the bigger, more rugged look!
