You're all invited out to my old family farm on November 3rd for our annual bonfire/stuff your face/play in the fire day! We usually have 30-40 people there already but this year we need the biggest ever so I'm inviting the EOC to come party with us! Also a first this year is we'll have our camping area done up so those who wish to camp over are welcome to do so. No idea of the capacity of the camping area so don't quote me on it :D

Where: 9353 USH 14, Black Earth, WI US - a bit outside of Madison. Head W. on HWY 14 through Cross Plains and past the S. Valley Rd. intersection. Parking will be on the right just after a slight rise - you'll see it. If you hit the Schultz Rd. intersection, you missed it!

Let's just say that last year's wood pile was REALLY wet, due to cutting it too late and rain turning to heavy, wet snow 2 days before the bonfire.

We got it to start finally by feeding it a bundle of old feed bags and a bunch of big candles, but then the center burned and the ends went out. So we spent the better part of the late afternoon/evening walking into the coals bed, scooping out a shovel of coals, and dropping them in piles in the unburnt part to get it to light. I was one of only 2 people who would do it, in part because I wore huge steel toed boots (with a generous coating of mud/ash mix on the soles) and all cotton, and in part because I'm just plain nucking futs.

Was a great time! :razz:

As for potties, check the revised original post...:rolleyes:

We don't have to worry about coldness from snow or the midwest cold weather. We'll all pile into your huge a$$ tent that sleeps 40! We'll stay plenty warm. So, well met up in Ohio, pick up some Ohio EOCers and continue on. Oh yeah, Jurn will meet us in Ohio too...Won't you Jurn?!

No seriously dude...I need some indoor plumbing, 2-ply toilet paper, enclosed stalls with doors, heat, no spiders. Ok--I'll take a port-a-potty with a video camera LOL...

We were out last weekend and covered most of the pile. From what I can guess from the tarps we had to use, the pile is roughly 20 feet wide x 10 feet tall x roughly 60 feet long. Gonna be a hell of a fire!

Well, the good news is I did so well at the professer job fair this weekend I've already got a callback interview :):)

Well we'll be lighting off the bonfire in the afternoon actually so we can have it burned down by the time we go home. We don't stay out there too late usually because everyone starts to get too damn cold :rolleyes: I'd say around 4-5 or so would probably be a good time, maybe even slightly earlier when we're grillin (and while we can still see the grill!)

It'll be typical camp fare - brats, hot dogs, possibly burgers, etc. I might try to bring some chicken if I can find a good deal.

Sounds like we'll be lighting off the big fire around 12:30 and tending that during the light, then moving back to the new campfire area way in the back and spending most of the rest of the evening singing Kum Ba Yah and You Sexy Thing :razz:
