Hi everyone,
I just moved back to Iowa this past month. I am wondering if there are any Element get togethers in the Des Moines area. I live in Monroe about 30 miles east.

I have been out of the area for 28 years and thought it was time to come home. I havent seen too many Elements in the area, although there is one at the apartments across from where I live.

THanks

We must have done a karmic swap. I just moved out of Iowa (Iowa City) around about June. Monroe isn't where the Triumph (motorbike) dealer is, is it? Can't remember the name off hand.

Good luck and all that. Des Moines is big enough to have a few owners, I would hope.

No Triumph is not in Monroe. Actually there is not much in Monroe but peace and quiet. It is very welcome after living in th SF bay area of California for 21 years.

I like that there are not alot of people and hustle and bustle going on.

I was acutally stationed at Scott AFB outside of St louis a few years back.

Good luck to you in MO.

If you feel like driving a bit, you could come up and visit me! If you're interested in driving a little more, I'm hosting a bonfire/mini-meet in early November outside of Madison, WI. Welcome to the area, glad you like the dullness! :D

I am in Grimes, Iowa right outside DSM. Sadly, I am trying to sell my E due to a divorce! :|

Look on the bright side, this just gives you the opportunity to buy a brand NEW Element when everything's all said & done :D

Hey... Does Maytag in Newton still sell that great blue cheese? I'm originally from Grinnell!

Oh, hell yeah, that's good cheese. Great on Hamburgers, too.

We moved to I.C. from the LA area and had previously lived in the Bay area for about 10 years combined. I enjoyed CA, but was a student, so we didn't have any money.
When my wife and I moved to the midwest, meat- like chicken- was so cheap that we felt compelled to buy some every time we went to the grocery store. After about a month, the freezer was packed.
We came home one day, opened the freezer, looked at each other and just started laughing because we both realized at that point that it wasn't on sale.
Enjoy your stay in IA.

(I looked it up- Baxter Cycle in Marne, IA)

Yep they still do the cheese.

Sorry you have to sell your Element. But like Twilight said gives you a chance to buy a new one.

I am really enjoying living here. It is so quiet and peaceful, a big change from the SF Bay Area. I am so glad I decided to move back. I am also enjoying the lower prices on gas, housing, groceries etc. Not to mention the corn fed beef. Yummmm. Oh and there is no traffic jams. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be commuting to Pella for work but it is only 14 miles and I get to enjoy the beautiful open country side. I quess a person does not appreciate what you have until you move away and come back. I know that winter is coming along with the snow, but I have actually missed the changing of the seasons.

I love the midwest.

I went to the Pella tulip festival with a new date once. We bought wooden shoes and had a blast. It was a longggg time ago.

Mmmmmmmmm fresh corn fed beef...*droooool*

I actually love living in a place with REAL seasons. Only time I get a bit pissy with the weather is when it's 90 degrees and 99% humidity. Just sitting on the couch makes you sweat like a pig, and heaven forbid trying to actually ACCOMPLISH anything...

My sister can grill a great rib eye. Melts in your mouth. dont know what she does bt boy is it good.

Yeah I forgot about humidity. But my memory was revived the first two weeks I was here. Thought I was going to drown in my own sweat. I kept saying "Now why did I move back here?" Oh yeah the corn fed beef.

Actually it was to be with family and watch the little ones grow up.

Cant wait for my sis to getg back from vacation so I can talk her into grilling some more rib eyes.

There are a few Element owners in DSM Metro. If you were to put an ad in the Register or Datebook, you would most likely get some hits. I'm a student in Cedar Falls, but am from the Des Moines Metro area. It would be great to get some people out there!

If you guys make a meet down there, let me know!

And you're all still invited to the bonfire/campout on Nov. 3 in Madison!

I'd love to go, but it's my mum's birthday, and well.. midterms are a bitch. Let's get a mini meet in DSM planned for sometime this summer though! Anbody else? I know it's a bit far away or some time sooner like in December/January? (It'll be cold as hell, but oh well...) Anybody else?

Hey Shirefire,

A mini meet sounds good. You up for organizing it?
