Well I finally got out of the shop long enough to write up an INSTALL WRITE UP HERE (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=477038#post477038)

This item is no longer for sale through TC's Performance. Thanks to all who purchased!!!

EEK!! Since my Tien hood dampers from an EK Civic didn't work out I might have to go with these!!!!

Honda Ghandi, do you have pics of the hood closed with these on? I know what you mentioned about the curvature of the fender and hood playing a part, how much did you have to bend the fender lip or tweek it?

Edit: Never mind, excellent write up. You should add the link http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37978 to this group buy!!!!

couple questions. What are the parts/dampers made from? Are they chrome, stainless or aluminum? Are the carbon ones just a wrapping or genuine carbon tubes? Reason I am asking is living where I do salt air corrosion is a concern and wouldn't want them to get ruined. Are the black pieces that attach at the hood hinge anodized or painted?

Thanks, the kit looks great.

The description for the carbon fiber units are the same:

These units also allow the hood to remain up and stable even under high wind conditions and were thoroughly tested for repeated use. With the use of oil filled shocks and light dampening for lightened hood applications these dampers have lift assist and slow decline features. Stainless steel w/ lightweight alloy shaft and casing with hydraulic oil seals end links for mounting points for durability and heat resistance. Weighs in at only 200g on average, this is a must-have addition to any hood prop vehicle.

In this pic you can see the lip that has to be bent in order for the damper to lie down. It's hardly noticeable, it may be a 3/4–1" bend.

Indeed. Very easy. I mean the only way you can screw up this install is mounting them the wrong direction *cough*. Whoops? I mean it still worked but it didn't look right. :D Took me 15 min with the correction. Honestly I love it. I use it nearly every weekend given I am constantly working on my car but I do have to say this is one of those convenience mods that I love. I'll never settle for that stupid bar ever again!

...and yeah I'm with you Chief. Engine damper seems like another one of those must-have items.

The Carbon Fiber ones shipped to Hawaii would be $175. Feel free to call the shop at (720) 974-0888 if you'd like to order....I believe as of today, we've got one of each (polished & carbon) in stock, so it would ship out ASAP.

Well, I just ruined it for everyone.

I found the HD-130 on Amazon for only $100 + ship (vs. $130 + tax/ship). I emailed NRG to see if they had a storefront (I am local), and if so, would they match the price. Today they emailed back, said there is no storefront, and the Amazon seller is breaking his sales agreement by selling for less than $130. NRG advised me to buy it ASAP at the lower price before they force the seller to change it.

So, you might want to get one quick if you want a lower price. I went with seller "MasterGradeShopping".

its a bummer you broke yours...but could you tell us what you did so we don't do the same?

Unless you hire a couple blindfolded amputee chimpanzees to install your set, you won't have the problem I had.

No word from NRG on parts yet.

That means I should proceed with caution. I will print off the instructions before attempting. Its a good thing I have an extra day this weekend to attempt the mods I want to do.
Lord help me when I pull off the front grill to do the mesh mod in the future.I'm already having nightmares about that one.

screw a friday delivery, they were delivered lastnight!!

I got the dampers installed in about 10 minutes using only a 10mm deep socket ratchet, a pair of pliers, a shop rag and my sledge.

Hardest part of the whole thing was bending the fender lip so that the hood will close. I took my time so that I didn't warp the fenders themselves. I'll post pics and a video later today.

edit:
ok, here're the pics and video!

I never got an email reply, but I called NRG last week and they hooked me up. I talked to a "Steven", he told me to come by, and loaded me up a handful of FREE parts to fix my problem. I am now 100% fixed.

They were really surprised to see the dampers on an E, so they took some pictures of my unprepared and dirty-a$$ under-hood/engine. A small price to pay vs. $130+tax+shipping for a whole new set. =)

Two thumbs up for NRG! ;)
