: Stock tires bald @ 13k miles, anyone else?
Deathshead 09-17-2007, 01:23 PM hi everyone, well winter is coming fast! our 07 elements stock goodyears are GARBAGE!, at 13k miles and a rotation these tires are BALD.
How long have yours lasted?
and can you reccomend some cheaper tires with a nice agressive look that last long and good in the wet and snow?
CK FQ BX 09-17-2007, 01:44 PM Mine were gonners at 7200. Have your alignment checked somewhere other than the dealership.

Why go cheap? Go to the Group Buy forum and check the group buy I put together for Nokian WR SUV tires. They are not the least expensive tire out there... but if you search the forum you'll see them getting praised by anyone who has ever used them. They will blow you away at how good they are.
As for your experience with the "Good"years... welcome to the club. They are a horrible, horrible choice for any vehicle. Be happy you didn't have an accident with them and are able to get replacement tires before winter.
Deathshead 09-17-2007, 02:09 PM I saw those Nokians, Everyone that runs them loves em, what kinda mileage are we looking at for a set of these?
My wife did say, "i want to put 1 set of tires on this thing and not worry about it for 70k miles!,"
Looks like we might need a trip to the dealer too, the brake pedal feels like crap, and i noticed that the brak fluid looks a lil low, no leaks though that i can see, just the smallest bit of dampness of the abs block, just enough for the dust to stick to it..

I got 55,000 out of my last set but could have probably gone another 5,000 if i wanted to. I drive aggressively so getting 60-70 should be doable.

Drifting will do that.
How long have yours lasted?
40,000 miles so far.
Mark C 09-17-2007, 02:39 PM Well, yes. Cheap tires, and they were terrible. My factory alignment was out so far it wore 1/2 the tread off mine in 5800 miles. By 16000, I had enough and replaced them with Yoko Geolandars. I have not looked back.
Deathshead 09-17-2007, 03:13 PM Another problem is that we live up in the mountains of pa here, lots of long twisty roads. i think part of the tire wear is the way my wife drives, she thinks that shes driving a mr-2 or somthing,...
Deathshead 09-17-2007, 03:29 PM im currently running 42psi in these junk goodyears, they are like donut shaped and wearout fast on the round edges, then the middle goes...
wierdest wear pattern i have seen. and i always check my pressures. etc.
TOADSTER TIM 09-17-2007, 03:33 PM Mine lasted 25K. I work at a Honda dealership so I had them warrantied. I had them put on Bridgestone Duelers, which were cheaper but had a more aggressive tread. Only 11,000 on those so far. They seem okay. I mounted them on CRV steel six hole take-offs that were lying around. Looks pretty cool, I guess.
I also got my dad's '04 CRV tires warrantied. 17,000 miles and they were gone. Honestly, in both cases, I blame slightly aggressive driving. But they still did wear kinda fast. I don't think the cars are properly aligned when they drop them off at the dealership.
Deathshead 09-17-2007, 03:42 PM i upped the pressed 10psi becuase they were wearing badly on the outside edges..
paulj 09-17-2007, 04:07 PM Though part of the outside wear is only apparent. The Wranglers have shallow secondary grooves on the shoulders. Once those wear through, the shoulder appears more bald than it really is.
Running 2 to 4 psi over recommendation appears to make sense with the Wranglers. 42 is on the high side.

shubox 09-17-2007, 05:35 PM mine lasted 23,000. just put bridgestone alenza's on last week. love them so far, especially in wet. the goodyears were getting scary on wet roads.
NOSkweezePSI 09-17-2007, 07:45 PM I just measured my goodyears and I still have 6mm left on them and currently my odometer reads 42060.
HSEBOY 09-19-2007, 11:39 PM I have the 2007 EX with the factory Wranglers with the recommended PSI. I have noticed at 3,300 miles that the outer and the inner tread pattern is wearing out, I think, excessively compared to the rear. I guess this is something that I have to live with until they completely wear out at 13,000? I have owned more cars and a CRV than I care to admit, and I have never had such a disconcerning experience such as this.
Is the car heavier in the front whcih is the cause of the apparent excessive wear? ?
Hondamade4dogs 09-20-2007, 06:04 AM Yes, those stock tires are Goodyears...Good for a year !:-P
Alaskan_Toaster 09-20-2007, 07:35 AM QUOTE: Is the car heavier in the front whcih is the cause of the apparent excessive wear?
Your front tires are always going to wear faster than your rears just for the simple fact of the weight of the engine and the constant turning of the tires. Even so, tires, in general, should not be worn out (under "normal" driving) at 13k.
My worst set: I had a set of stock Generals that were trashed at 30k, and the mech who looked at them said "Yep, that's about average for Generals".:mad:
My upcoming problem is we are leaving for Alaska (from GA) next week, have 2.5k on the E now, will hit close to 10k once we roll into our new home. That's not the problem as much as the Alaskan winter is just getting under way when we get there. Will we have to replace the tires before spring?:confused:
ORANGEE 09-20-2007, 07:49 AM My first set of tires(original crap) lasted about 23K, then my next set (Bridgestone) around 50K - I'm on my 3rd set (BF Goodrich)
Twilightzero 09-20-2007, 10:18 AM The Badyears on my first E were bald at 12K. I switched to Yokohama Geolandars and drove them for 20K on the old E. Bought the new E, brought the Geos wth me - left the stock tires at the dealer :D
ieatflux 09-22-2007, 02:43 AM maybe cause i drive hard or sumthin... my wheels went more than bald by 11k miles. rotation and all.. but the stock tires i hear are defective, inadiquate piles of junk anyway.
ron"E"boy 09-22-2007, 07:01 AM In here u hear good and bad stories about the stock tires. I quess I hear more bad than good and although I would go 4 a better tire when these goodyears wear out, I do have 25,000 on them now and I would say that they will get about 10,000 more before its over with. Just my 2 cents.
