Got a ? about well water and your pooch...

Just curious if anyone had well water give the pup the poops (not the solid kind). My poor gal Kayla, unless shes gettin into something we dont know about the only thing that changed was her water...from jug to well, since our water cooler broke. It sprang a leak, wet carpet, blamed the dog...felt like poop when we found it wasnt her.

While it would be possible for about any dietary change to cause bouts of diarrhea in dogs, I have not seen that to be the case with ours in regards to the well water. If you really think that is a concern, I would have your water tested.

The most common 'contaminate' in well water around here would be "Nitrates". But what is common here really doesn't apply to you. Contact your local agricultural extension office and see if they won't test your water.

If you check out the EPA's site (http://www.epa.gov/safewater/privatewells/index2.html) it would scare you to death. :rolleyes:

There's no such thing as "well water". Water from a well may range from highly pure and fully safe, to highly contaminated. So your question cannot be answered without knowing the specifics of your well.

If YOU are drinking the well water and not suffering in any way, then likely your dog would not suffer either.
