: Yellowstone-Grand Teton: EOC Camping Jamboree 08
Miss Ellie & Co. 08-05-2008, 12:41 PM Canoe . . . normally travels upside down on roof rack (right side up in the water) . . . 60 mph . . . situation normal . . . needed a caption for the pic . . .wakarimasu Gene-Sama ? :D
"Konnichiwa - Box4Rox san, Obi sama... Hai - wakarimasu ka!" ;-)
PS: I got the rain ponchos ($4.00 each - good deal)
Must stop going out to the store. I keep coming back with more stuff. Hope I can pack it all in the E.
PPS: I also have a small jar of anchovies infused with a hot red pepper olive oil - just wait until you taste the Chicken Cacciatore I'll be putting together with it!
wgwood 08-05-2008, 06:25 PM For those of you who did not make it to Humboldt last year, be prepared for priceless moments like this: http://tinyurl.com/5f94ts
Ric even said afterward:
Junebug -
Next time we should tackle Bohemian Rhapsody I think.
I was looking back at the photo thread for that trip and I agree with Gene. One of the best times I have ever had camping.
My doctor still advises against going, as the bones in my foot have healed but the tendons have not. But I am thinking that a few "Blue Drinks" would alleviate any pain I might have after a day of fun.
So at this point I am shuffling around looking for gag gifts...
Regards,
Greg
Miss Ellie & Co. 08-05-2008, 07:10 PM Greg - You make the Camp Gods proud!
What a trooper! :D
I'm still rollin on the floor splittin my guts watching Junebug and Djembe doing the Posse on Broadway.:lol:
Not to worry - what ever color drink you fancy will be available by the gallon.
slosport 08-05-2008, 09:26 PM If they only knew . . .

We're in Ogden tonight.
I think we have the same bedspread.
SLC was to big city for us so we moved on to Ogden a much nicer spot..
Off to Jackson in the morning.
Jeannie I loved your drawing! I hope you are bring some to share.
Ric, I hate to say it but I'm selfish:sad:...I want you to come join us...to hell with fame and fortune. We need you!!!!!
Drive safely everyone!:D
Marilyn
spdrcr5 08-06-2008, 10:07 AM Almost ready to leave... just need to get through the rest of this day!
Been busy planning things out for our drive to/from Jellystone. We will be arriving around lunch time Saturday. I changed the route for us to take, we will be heading through SD. This way we will check out Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Devil's Tower on the way instead of on the way home. This will allow us to remain at camp until Friday the 15th! :)
See everyone Saturday. Drive safe.
Miss Ellie & Co. 08-06-2008, 02:15 PM Godspeed spdrcr !
Pretty much packed and almost ready to go.
Washed and waxed Miss Ellie this morning - she's looking very kewl.
Still have to mount my bike and stack stuff up on the roof rack but the inners are all locked and loaded.
It's simply amazing how much gear can be stuffed into an Element!
I hope that everyone enjoys the long drive ahead, it's still a big country and somebody needs to travel it.
So have a great time out there on the blacktop crushing bugs and dodging road kill. :-P
We'll be leaving LA promptly at 3:00 AM and rolling into Hojos in Brigham City, Utah around 3:00 PM.
I'll need a few hours in the pool and jacuzzi by then.
See all of you camping fools Friday and Saturday.
Keep it under 85 MPH and drive save!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey yall stay safe and have a BLAST!:D
I just completed a deal with "The Tonight Show" and with "90210" heading home to pack my clothing and then later the Frozen Goodies and hit the road at 3:00 AM.
85 MPH are you kidding ? with a trailer it's 55 MPH (unless it's Duffy driving and he's got a license to fly).
Is California the only state that requires the "Hands Free Cell Phone" ?
I missed the final word about Ric, is he going or not ?

We'll probably see you guys on the road I-10 to I-15 all the way to Vegas.
You've got our cell number, we have yours - we'll be talking.
I am confident that Ric will post his latest going ons shortly. :)
California is the only state you'll be traveling in that has cell phone restrictions.
spdrcr5 08-06-2008, 08:31 PM Jet, not NY was the first state to enact the hands-free law and that was over 5 yrs ago. There are quite a few states with the law now, CA being the latest.
Drive safe everyone... heading to bed by 11pm and will be up by 2am... :-(
DJEMBE 08-06-2008, 09:41 PM It so far appears I did NOT book the Capital One job. I'm not out of the woods yet though; the audition for It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia went well and it shoots this Monday. I could still get a call from my agent up until dinnertime on Friday suggesting I return - I'll decide then.
I must pack my clothes, wash my camping cutlery, and take a nap, then I'm out the door at midnight. I hope to see the sun rise on the other side of Las Vegas tomorrow.
See you,
Ric
motelE 08-06-2008, 09:50 PM HI EVERYONE You are going to have soooo much fun on this trip. Drive safe, take lots of pictures, be kind to the bears and have a safe, safe, trip. Look forward to hearing about all the fun things, we who couldn't go, would have enjoyed.
Ms Jet 08-06-2008, 11:12 PM Hi Ric,
I'm sure you are sad to not have a confirmation on the job although the possibility is still there....we are glad you are coming (at least for now until you hear otherwise on Friday).
CAMPON (that's Okie talk for get yer camp on).
It's not a Camp-out, it's a Major Deployment. I can'y imagine how all the other Camping Fools can pack all the necessities in their E's:confused:
They must not have any Toys.
Needless to say we're packed and we may be leaving momentarily just so we have a head start and beat the crowd to Veags
Junebug 08-07-2008, 12:52 AM I might be the only one planning for a "whole" night's sleep! And Jet, I agree, man ... I don't know how it all fits either. I sure hope it does! Already ditching things that don't need to go. Safe travels, everyone ... I've got plenty of stuff left to do and have to work tomorrow too. I guess the question is: how late will I be getting on the road?
Box4Rox 08-07-2008, 12:59 AM We're in Cody, Wy. . . . about 30 miles from Yellowstone.
Spent some time in Wall and Sturgis South Dakota; it is the 68th annual bike week . . . the place is crawling with bikes and bikers.
Made lots of new friends -

Box4Rox 08-07-2008, 01:15 AM Came through on I-90 and then headed South on highway 14 at the Montana border through Big Horn Canyon to Grey Bull and then Cody.
:)
The FIRST FLIPPIN' CRITTER we see in Wyoming (other than cows) was not a bear . . . . but what I had feared (and warned Gene about)
A Moose. :D
Obi was very interested . . .
I talked with SloSport a few hours ago . . . she is in Jackson and will be headed into Flagg tomorrow morning.

jdiane 08-07-2008, 10:36 AM I know I might get banned for saying this, but Damn thats a gooood looking Subaru!!!
Box4Rox 08-07-2008, 11:42 AM I know I might get banned for saying this, but Damn thats a gooood looking Subaru!!!
haha -
Thanks ! Outback - "the other Element"
Hopefully the EOC sticker will allow me to keep posting pics for this trip.:-P
My poor old '03 SOP is just too tired to make the trip towing the TD (which I think is now a whopping 1700 lbs !! ) The climb up Big Horn would have killed it for sure :-(
Also, I much prefer towing with a manual tranny which the Outback has. Plus, it matches my dog . . .
Hopefully my daughter and her teenage girl (!!!) whacko friends are taking good care of my E back home and it and my house won't be burned down when I return
Leaving Cody in about a half hour for Flagg . . . probably won't post for another week or so (unless the friggin' bears have installed Wi-Fi along with all their other demands)
;-)
Junebug 08-07-2008, 03:15 PM I'm leaving in the next hour or so! Woooooo!!!!!!! Home from work and finishing packing up, then I'll fill the gas tank, buy ice/pack the coolers, and off I go!
Junebug 08-07-2008, 11:52 PM About an hour ago I arrived at a campground in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, for a quick overnight. Here's a picture of the sunset as I was going through Spokane, WA. Talked to Djembe a couple hours ago, he was almost to his stopping point, and Miss Ellie was there too, and probably Jet. We'll meet up tomorrow!
Mels E 08-08-2008, 12:24 AM This is getting exciting for sure, glad to hear Greg and Rick are coming. I left Thurs 6:30 am and it took 14 hrs to get to Howard Johnson's in Brigham (2 hrs of stopping time in total). I will sleep good tonight. I have not seen the other "E"s yet in the parking lot but I am sure you must be here. I will look for you guys in the am.
E_BikeR 08-08-2008, 10:35 AM Awaiting the call from Miss Ellie & Co. But it's a really long drive day you've all had. Sleep in some more and call me when you are passing through.
Todd
bikerjosh 08-09-2008, 11:11 AM Thanks everyone for posting your progress and trip reports. Wish I was going. Anytime I see my band of E brothers and sisters rollin' with packed E's (or a subie; you get a pass cause you ride a bike-lol) I get all misty eyed.
Keep the posts coming.
Here's to hoping those bears installed some wi-fi.
Josh:sad:
Well, most of made it Friday afternoon about the same time as a major gully washer. 30 minutes later it was over and we pitched tents, started fires and life went on. It is sooo nice here.:D
SteveMac2181 08-09-2008, 08:34 PM Dang - we were within a few miles but could not get there. We had only driven across the continent! : D
We got to Yellowstone but we were unable to reliably predict what night we would be on hand so we came with no reservation (cabin, not camping). We were around the Grant's village in Yellowstone but when we found that there were no vacancies, we headed for the west entrance (to exit). We had to be at Mount Hood by the end of the day on Sunday.
Frustrating - so near yet so far. I will post some of our trip pics sooner or later but for now, feel free to check flickr (www.flickr.com) and search on roadtrippers08 to see our photos.
Wished we could have made it but the laws of time and space prevailed.
Mrs.Anthony337 08-10-2008, 09:48 AM Grrr...Howard Johnson couldn't find my reservation to cancel it, now they have charged my card and will not reverse it....had to open a fraud case...
Hope all is having fun- would definitely rather be there than here...
Free_man_E 08-11-2008, 05:20 AM I wish that I could of come on this trip.
Oh well maybe next year.
bh045ct 08-11-2008, 01:30 PM I hope everyone at the meet is having a great time. I wish I was there. Saw this on the National Parks web site. Be careful!!!!
 Are you sure that wasn't Junebugs bin!???
bh045ct 08-11-2008, 02:51 PM You notice the bear is not touching the booze!!!!!!!!!!! But he can have a Dr Pepper. One bag of chips already gone, working on left overs and then maybe some more chips.
Looks like a laptop case next to the bin. So when he is done eating, he can post on the EOC.
motelE 08-12-2008, 12:01 AM That could have been me enjoying Junebug"s scones, pitching my tent under the piney trees, breathing that fresh, COOL, mountain air.
Okay, so I start saving pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters AND folding money.
Everyone have a great time, love the pic's, keep'm coming.
jdiane 08-12-2008, 01:20 PM :cry: I've been wishing all weekend I was in Yellowstone  Thanks for the pics ebiker! I've followed that super loaded Miss Ellie to many campsites.:)
All of the airplane carp and the rented HHR for my shortened vacation made me wish I was driving my E to see you guys...
I bought a copy of Backpacker mag-- yellowstone has the most remote spot in the lower 48-- which is sadly only 20 miles from the nearest road.
Elemen-O-P 08-12-2008, 01:29 PM WOW!! Looks like everyone is having a great time! Wish we were there!
_jea_ 08-12-2008, 03:40 PM WOW!! Looks like everyone is having a great time!
Were there any doubts about that :D
Thank you guys for posting great pictures!!! Love the mountains.:)
Elemen-O-P 08-12-2008, 03:59 PM Were there any doubts about that
There are never any doubts when the camping group gets together...I should know, I'm one of 'em. I'm just extremely jealous is all. We would've loved to attend, but with the National Meet in Ohio...there just wasn't enough time and/or money.
Oh well...the upside is that there'll always be more camping trips and I'm obligated to Gene and Rochelle (Miss Ellie & Co.) to 4 more camping trips. Can't wait to hear what the next great campout will be. :D

I'm right there with you. Besides I need to hand off "trailer trash barbie" to another EOC'er.
Josh:razz:
jdiane 08-12-2008, 05:38 PM 2nd weekend in September- humbolt redwoods anyone??? :-)
bh045ct 08-12-2008, 06:13 PM What does trailer trash Barbie look like???
Need photo
E_BikeR 08-12-2008, 10:26 PM :cry: I've been wishing all weekend I was in Yellowstone  Thanks for the pics ebiker! I've followed that super loaded Miss Ellie to many campsites.:)
Hey, glad to post what decent shots Mrs. E_Biker and myself were able to get. It was too sad to leave the campsite for home! Camping Eple are the best. We will DEFINITELY be at the Humbolt meet next year, (if that's what is decided).
DJEMBE 08-16-2008, 11:53 PM Protective turkey touque - check.
Reflective Belgian safety shirt so they can find my bear-mauled corpse - check.
Bottle of B-Creek - check.
Oh, it was on.
