: Best Tire for Me?

Hi Gang,
I've been reading reviews of various tires and brands, and all it's left me with is too many options to pick from. I live in Illinois with a 2+ hour commute to Chicago every week (not the best situation, but I've learned to live with it).

So here are my needs...

Work well on Highway (I spend 10+ hours per week on the highway)
Handle decently in snow and rain (I know Illinois isn't Canada, but it gets enough snow to make this important, especially for my 2+ hour commute each week)
Quiet as possible (I know you can't eliminate all noise, but some would be nice)

Any suggestions, thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

These new tires from Cooper look interesting....

I've had good luck with other Cooper products and they seem to be priced competively.

Good luck.

Nokian WR-SUV

I've narrowed it down to the Michelin and the Nokians.

The Michelin LTX M/S are nice highway tires with a long treadlife.

You can't go wrong with the Michelins, but an excellent tire that I also had success with, was the Hankooks, with a lot better price tag than the Michelins.

I replaced the Michelin's with Continental Cross Country's' & what a difference!!
Quiet, turn hugging is unbelievable!! Drove from Long Island to Fla recently with the new tires & experienced all types of weather except snow & these puppies are a good replacement. I do dirt roads occasionally & they perform well. If you have a Mavis tire store, they have the best prices & can get just about any tire you want.

Thanks for the suggestions folks... sounds like Michelins are the consensus vote. And they are one of the ones that I had narrowed my list down to as well. My local Sears has them for $167 per tire. I hope I can find them for less elsewhere.

Thanks again folks... :)
