: The Rube Paints Engine Pieces
The Rube 10-07-2007, 11:53 AM Okay, I finally did it. I had some time by myself yesterday and got a chance to do some stuff on my E. I finished with the painting of the plastic pieces. It came out pretty good. What do you folks think?? (Too much):lol::lol:
wastedonanime 10-07-2007, 12:29 PM Ah that looks great! I had thought long ago about painting the radiator cover, but given I have an NBP, I decided to leave it be. Very nice! : )
lwclancers 10-07-2007, 12:38 PM You need to paint the fuse box cover like I did ;-)
ORANGEE 10-07-2007, 04:31 PM Rube, if you ever get bored doing yours...............I'm just sayin' !
barryscott 10-07-2007, 07:38 PM Looks good. Going to do mine soon.
SciJohn 10-07-2007, 07:43 PM Very nice. Did you use Krylon Fusion? I bought the orange can and I used it on the screen frame of my Garmin GPS. It came out nice. I have plenty left. Should I do what you did?

Yo "O", anytime you have a week end free just drop by The Rube's place and I will hook you up! Man, I'm just glad I don't smoke, drink or chase women - I couldn't afford it with all the things I've done to my E.
"WHO SAID, 'GET A LIFE'??
Element Art 10-07-2007, 08:31 PM What color and what paint??? It looks great!

Go for it. I like the look. I've seen a few E's that have been painted and it sets them apart. Again, its not for everyone.

Gotta check the can for ya. I'll let you know tomorrow. Actually I was with Gregg (Fugiisan) when we picked it up. He's good at matching colors and he told me which one to get. I will post the name for ya tomorrow.

Element625 10-08-2007, 06:07 AM Rube that is totally awesome. Looks like a perfect match with the paint. Gee I wish I had time to do something like that......wait who am I kidding. Me and paint is bad bad idea. *sigh* I have no talent but very cool to see the things you do.

StumpjumperDave used Krylon's Pumpkin (Safety) Orange like I did on my covers. I'm curious about Rube's color since it looks like it matches our SOP's.
Coachflaps 10-08-2007, 07:42 AM I like the looks of this, nice job. Has anyone ever used Rust-Oleum's Paint for Plastic? They have a green that better matches GGM than anything Krylon has.
Speedy Toaster Dave 10-08-2007, 08:43 AM Rube, looks good there ..and so does yours Stumper..:D
StumpjumperDave 10-08-2007, 11:26 AM Thanks Ya'll... last time I took it to the dealership for a Oil Change, the serivce guy opened the hood and looked at it, and said.. "I have a Element, I dont ever remember them coming with painted covers".... he was surprised when I told him I did it.. didnt even know about EOC....

I had a similar thing happen. I was at the dealership and a salesman looked inside and saw my SOP painted dash and had this dumbfounded look on his face. He said "did you do that?" I said yes and he said "you need to send Honda pictures, they need to start painting those too".
Critical_level2 10-08-2007, 04:47 PM Looks good. :)
I was going to do this, but when I took off the rear cover , the two front bolts on it were stuck in the cover. Is there a trick to getting them out?
StumpjumperDave 10-08-2007, 05:17 PM I dont think those 2 bolts come out. I just taped around them and sprayed away.... and taped over the emblem too...
The Rube 10-08-2007, 05:19 PM For those who were asking I used Krylon Fusion "Red Pepper/Safety Red
#2328. Then I finished it with Krylon Special Purpose Lacquer.

It would look awesome!! Go go it Totin'. . . . .I think everyone should paint the inside. It adds to the personality of the car.

I took all the bolts off. It took a little muscle but I got them off. I found it easier to take the pastics out than to try to paint them while still in the engine compartment.

i would like to see that done.

Just do a little test "patch" and see if you like it. You may even want to paint the opposite side just to see if you like it. If you don't you don't have to worry cause you painted the side that isn't showing. Just my opinion.
