I have a basic RIO one mp3 player that works fine with headphones however, I can not get sound out
of the E's speakers (yes, the volume is turned up :) ) when I plug it into the AUX jack.
I am using a standard stereo mini-pin to mini-pin cable.
Is there a special type cable that is needed to connect an mp3 or any other device to the AUX jack to
get it to work?

standard min 1/8th inch stereo jack. Make sure your radio is in AUX mode.
