i would like some help with this sub and amp package from sonicelectronix.com
it comes with 2 12" sony xplod subs (380w rms each)
and a crunch1500.1 amp (375wx1 at 4 ohm rms)
so if hooked up, wouldn't the subs be underpowered at about 187w each???? or am i way off here??? thanks.

They wouldn't be powered up to their "rated" power handling. Some companies now will rate their subs at higher power handling than they would be able to handle in normal situations. For example, they'll put the sub in a sealed box half the recommended volume and rate it at its power handling in that box. Also, in bigger or ported boxes subs power handling go down. They'd probably be fine in that box, if you're satisfied by the sony xplod stuff anyways. IMO its junk, but if you're not really into this stuff that much and just want a little more low end, than it might be fine. That amp seems kinda sketchy too.
Although they don't look like much, these (http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/product_info.php?cPath=92&products_id=183) are supposed to be excellent subs for the money. If you put them in a big ported box and give them about 250rms a piece they bump pretty hard. And they're only 25 bucks a piece. So if something happens to one, they're a pretty quick easy replacement. You can find all sorts of amps that put out that kind of power. I'd try and stick to more of the more "reputable" brands. They're are many out there but some i would consider would be: Elemental Designs (can you tell i like them?), Rockford Fostgate, Kicker, Memphis, Hifonics, Alpine, Eclipse, Kenwood, PG, and the list goes on. Just about any amp by any of those manufacturers would be fine. Just make sure you look at rms power ratings at the ohm load that you'll need it at. Cheaper companies will also rate amps at voltages that you're car won't produce. So look for amps rated at 12.5-14.5 volts. I might have been a little confusing in some of what i said, if you have any questions, just ask.

This (http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=262642) would work well too. If you're willing to buy used stuff you can get pretty good stuff pretty cheap.

honestly to tell you the truth i have too much sub crap as it is. the only problem is idk which i want to put into the box.
i just sold my other vehicle without the audio components so i have those left over. (1 jl audio 12w0, kicker kx200.2 bridged amp) so i might just put that in the box.
but i've also been throwing around the idea of a kicker L5 8" sub in a custom box that would be hidden behind the stock subs plastic casing and using the kx200.2 to power it.( sealed volume is .33-.75 as this custom box would be around .31)
I just hate the fact that the 12w0 and it's box takes up so much space, or else i would use it.

that's a pretty beefy sub to try and fit behind the factory shroud. I think you might be better off trying something more along the lines of what Outpost4 did. If you haven't seen his build just click on just about any of the sticky's and then he's got links in his sig. I'd do it for you but i'm inches from bed. Goodnight.
To answer the question:
The subs should be wired in parallel, making a 2 ohm load. The amp will now be producing 750 watts. The power is split between the subs and each will receive 375 watts a piece.

I'm a little confused. Does your 12w0 take up more space than that ported box for those 12s? If it does thats a HUGE box.

the box for my 12w0 is really large for 1 12". it's ported and is about 32" in length, 16" in height, and 9" in depth. it takes up almost the whole back in length

hey j thanks for all the help. i drove into austin today and went to circuit city to check out their line-up (since the mostly carry kicker, and i'm use to it.) well, needless to say i bought a new zx200.2 amp after i heard how it sounded. i mean this little amp powered two kicker cvr 10's very well with the gain and bass boost adjusted a wee bit. so i think i'm going to just build a new box and hook up two twelves. one powered by the new zx200.2 bridged and the other on my kx200.2 bridged that way it's pretty much evened out. i'm also getting rid of my sony 4 channel for the kicker zx200.4 amp to power my infinity 6022si door speakers. It's going to be a lil loud. hell the one amp shook some xm radio receivers off their shelves!

i've decided to go with the 10" 4 ohm kicker cvr subs preloaded in their vented box since the rms and peak wattage for both my amps and these subs match up perfectly. also, these were the subs that i heard it with at circuit city today, and it is a smaller box, so i can put my back seats further down in the back.:D
oh, and i just ordered the kicker zx200.4 for my doors.
