Yup! Different kinds (lawful of course).

My goal is to mount a belt-fed on the roof and shoot it while standing out the sunroof.

Yes. Trap, handgun, longgun. So my next question is how do you carry a gun legally in the Element (in California no less).

I have been carrying the trap o/u in the case in the back, but I have the rear seats removed so there really isnt any seperation from the drivers seat area to the back. Is that legal?

The E is the greatest road hunting vehicle ever produced. Remove the sun roof, fold up the rear seats, stand in the back with the trusty 7mm Remington resting on the roof rack, spot light plugged into the handy rear power recepticle and cruise those back roads. You have a 360 degree, unobstructed view. Bambi doesn't have a chance. Oh, you said carry guns legal, sorry.

Bill,

I didnt know they had any deer in Patterson. I thought they only had smoldering tires!

You are right, I have never seen a deer in Patterson, however, in those hills
to the west of the smoldering tires there are many. They are the little coastal guys like you have up there. The best road hunting is north of you at the Cobb/Boggs Mtn. area. The law is so busy busting meth labs they don't have time for minor infractions. Gotta love Lake Co.

I have seen a few of those little guys around. Unfortunately they were ala roadkill. As a former Modestan for many years, it is very odd for me to see deer on the freeway (101).

Mostly pistol here. I'm having a CA legal (i.e. LAME) FN-FAL built right now, though...

Yes, that should be no problem. So long as it's not out of the case and concealed, that is legal for California.

This is one of the reasons why I bought the Element. Once I saw the back seats fold up, all I could think of was how much easier loading up our shooting gear would be, esp. long guns.

I asked this question in Glocktalk.

Personally I am just going to start transporting my guns in a locked case. SG's and rifles will be in purposely built softcases and handguns will be in a plastic hardcases.
