: Our Elephant
Harv-E 10-19-2007, 10:51 AM Hello EOC
My wife and I leased a 2006 NBP, 2WD manual transmission Element in June of 2006. We chose the Element because of Honda's reliability -- I've owned a Honda motorcycle and Civic, and she's owned an Accord and a Civic -- and its practicality for our lifestyle. We have two dogs that go with us almost everywhere, we ski, snowboard, mountain bike and participate in generally anything else that involves being outdoors in our beautiful province of British Columbia. We are active landscapers in our own yard so having a vehicle that can haul supplies easily was a necessity and not worrying about messing up the interior was an important factor in our decision to get an Element. We adore this vehicle and have nicknamed it 'The Elephant' but I'm sure it's not a unique moniker judging by the number of active members in this forum.
We have leased several vehicles in the past with the intention of returning it to the dealer when the commitment was fulfilled because there isn't much point in owning something expensive that depreciates in value. It's also nice to have a new vehicle every four years and not worrying about costly repairs as we are covered by the warranty for the duration of our lease. However, we recently decided to terminate the lease and buy this vehicle outright because we feel that it's going to serve our needs for many years to come. We have the reliability behind the Honda badge, a practical vehicle that suits our immediate needs, one that stands out from the humdrum of mainstream auto design, and a car that is fun to drive! What more could you want from a vehicle? We love our Element and look forward to many, many years of enjoyment.
Here's a recent snap of our beloved. There aren't any modifications because it was a lease -- but now that we own it outright I think it's time to start having some fun with it. I'm eager to browse the many forum topics for ideas on performance upgrades and beautification. Thanks for reading this long-winded love letter and I welcome any comments or suggestions.

I got my wife one last year for Christmas. It is "Ellie the Element Elephant" as she calls it and it sits on top of our TV in the living room.

BC246T 10-19-2007, 11:08 AM Welcome aboard, Harv! The E is an amazing and versatile vehicle, and I don't know how you've been able to keep your hands off making upgrades to it, lease or not.

Greetings, Harv! I'm one of the guilty owners who call their E "the Elephant" or as my gorgeous three year old niece says, "Efant". :)
Welcome to the EOC! Please look around and explore what we have to offer. We have several different entertainment venues ranging from Twilightzero's spinning disco ball and Rocket Dog's magnificent aerial stunt show to Hiker Chick's camping workshop where she'll show you how to cook a gourmet meal out on the camp site using nothing but foil from a gum wrapper and a couple of toothpicks. Have fun and and enjoy your stay! :D
Bald Eagle 10-19-2007, 11:13 AM Now you just need one of these...
