Last weekend I managed to drive over a freshly painted white line on the side of the road. The result was a nice splatter (similar to a fine mud splatter) on the passenger side. It covers a good size area behind the front and back tires on the plastic panels as well as the paint.

How do I get this off the painted area and the plastic panels without harming my finish? (It is also on my tires but I think a good scrubbing will solve that one).

Anyone else ever driven through that crap?

I'm thinking you want to talk with a couple of auto paint shops. Get estimates and talk with your insurance carrier. Road paint is a lot thicker, you might ruin the finish trying to get that stuff off.

I'll defer to the opinions of those with more experience, but that's how I would handle it if it were my E.

I did not think the E was so slow that the street line painters would paint one.

Even though I owned a detail shop for many years, I obviously can not see the paint to determine what the solution should be. So what you need to do is go to an automotive paint supplier, or a professional detailer supplier. Either place will have automotive paint professionals to help you, then sell you the proper products to take care of your problem and instruct you on how to use them. "Good Luck!"

After reading some other sites, I went ahead and tried the clay bar. I got the larger spots off with a fingernail then the clay bar worked well on the smaller spots. Buffed and shined, looks like it was never there.

The problem is the plastic trim. Much harder to get it off the textured areas. I gave it a shot but then it got dark so I don't know how much I actually got. Regardless, it looks 100% better.

Thanks for the help.
