Quick question for anyonoe who has installed amps under the seat is this amp too wide at 15 inches? I think the 2.25 height and 12 inch length would be ok. It's also a 5 channel amp, so I could mount all the auto pc crap under the other seat.

I like the Rubicon amp line, but this one is too large to fit under your seat.

*oink* *oink* Piggybacking a question here.... so what is the largest size amp that would fit under the passenger side front seat?

I don't know the exact measurements but it could be measured rather easily. I just remember sliding a 15" amp under my passenger seat to check for fit and realized instantly that it was not gonna happen. I suspect that 12" x 12" X 2.5" is about as big as you could go.

Remember - a good amp strategy for the E is multiple smaller amps. You can fit some 4 channel amps under a seat or 2 two channels under each seat. You can also put a sub amp where the factory sub is if you remove it and stick with class D amps for big wattage on the sub because the footprint per watt is much smaller w/class D. You can also let your head unit power the rear speakers and just use a 4 channel amp for the fronts and sub.

I have a class D 400 watt amp in my stock sub location (I have a sub box in the cargo area) and I have a 2 channel amp under my passenger seat for the front component speakers and I have my rear speakers powered by my head unit since I fade them way down anyway.

Hope this helps.

I just installed an Eclipse PA5422 amp under the passenger seat the other day and it fits nicely after I had to bend upward the spring anchors because they were up against the sides of the amp and scratching it when the seat was moved. I had an EA3422 before and a friend of mine took it off my hands for the cost I paid for it. The PA5422 is a much cleaner amp with up to 8v input capability, 85 watts @ 4 ohms and it is part of the Eclipse premium line. Ill post pics soon. The dimensions are 13.32x2.05x11.85. This amp works out ok because all the speaker, power and RCA connectors are all on one side faceing the back of the vehicle and I have it overlapping the shelf where the front seat bolts screw in about an inch which seems to be OK because the seat slide adjustment lever comes out further than that anyway.

Sweet.... looking forward to some eye candy!

I am trying to compile a list of measurements like what size amp one could squeeze under the seat, etc. I hope this will make it easier for ppl (like me) looking to upgrade parts and components. As we all know, it's no fun buying a new toy only to find out it don't fit! :D

Thanks for the info eMass, as always your a big help. I'm still debating if I want to put in my old Clarion Auto Pc, or upgrade to a newer unit. Even though the Navigation in the Auto pc is a bit slow, new Nav units are big $$ so it's a toss up. Did anyone ever find the spot behind the rear panels that is supposed to be big enough to hold a large amp?
