: Security System and Remote Start
TheTANK 11-08-2007, 05:11 PM I was wondering what an alarm and remote start for an 06 EX would cost?
Any dealers out there in the NYC area with some deals for the Holiday season?
kastivich 11-08-2007, 05:30 PM There is such a huge range of systems and features it is hard to say. What kind of features are you looking for in an alarm? Do you want protection beyond the standard shock sensor and single siren? Do you want a paging system that will tell you if the car started or if the alarm was triggered? What kind of range for the remotes were you hoping to get?
I would say an alarm / remote start (from a major manufacturer) with installation will probably be upwards of $450.

I know there are a lot of "aftermarket" security systems with a wide variety of features but I'm looking for simple security and remote start unless I can get a higher end system in the $250 price range.
I was looking on HandA but only found security system and saw nothing about remote start.
Is there a Honda Security/Remote Start?
kastivich 11-08-2007, 05:38 PM I dont think that Honda offers a remote start system for the Element. Though they do have one for the Accord.

Thats correct they only offer them for 2006+ Civic, 2007+ CRV and 2008 Accords. It would be nice if they did but they won't be coming out until the next E redo if at all.

Thats alright. From reading the specs I think the after market alarm / remote start systems have more features, better range, and often cost less.

That's weird, my father has an '03 and his has a remote start he got from the dealer...maybe its from another model? I think it was giving him some problems and I don't think it works anymore, lol.

The Honda setup is pricey....and takes a good half day if not longer to install....if it was offered as a factory installed item i would be all over it.

If it was installed at the dealer it was aftermarket. Dealers having been doing this for years ...nothing new.

Are there any particular brands I should look into or is it best to just check the local shops and see?
Obviously I've heard of Viper, but that doesn't necessarily mean its the best, any suggestions?

I have never owned one and don't really know much about them.
Take a look in the mobile electronics forum here and you will get a lot of info on remote starters.
I am moving this over to mobile electronics to get this thread more exposure and to help get the info you require.
