: Any SC owners with dogs?

The reason I ask is this: I have a rather hairy dog that will be riding in my future E. I have read that the FXC seat fabric (in the EX) is less likely to retain dog hair than more coventional fabric. How does the SC seat fabric and carpeted floors hold up to pet hair? I really like both the EX and the SC. To be honest I prefer the looks and added features of the SC but I also like the easy clean of the carpetless EX.

Thanks

You really need to think about the carpet in the SC.

I've got dogs (man, do I have dogs...) and haul them in the E all the time. The EX cleans up nicely - inside and out.

I've seen the SC and I have to say, they are nice, but I sincerely doubt you'll be able to clean them anywhere as easily or as good as the EX.

The SC just isn't as much of a 'dog mobile' as the EX - in my opinion.

Yep, my lab comes with me all the time. A lint roller works great because the dog-hair doesnlt really stick too much to the SC's fabric. Never noticed much hair on the carpet, the vacuum sucked up the little amount easily.

I think it is fine. I keep my SC vacuumed religiously, so dog hair never piles up. I think the Ex is a better choice for dog owners, but I don't keep my dogs from riding with me in the SC. SC - Good. EX or LX - Better.

I have an EX that I bought primarily for this reason. The SC will be easier to keep clean then a typical car since it still has that nice, flat floor that will be easy to vacuum, but it will be harder to keep clean then an EX. Add in the fact that you can't get the SC with AWD (something that should be handy in the land of liquid sunshine) and I'd personally recommend the EX.

Granted, I did not haul my dog often, but I have the full cargo mat from Elemmat, just take both seats outs and there you have it. When you get back home, just take mat out and sweep. No hair inside on carpet.

I have 2 dogs, a long haired border collie / chow mix and a short haired catahoula. The only problem I have had with the SC is the muddy foot prints on the console and the nose marks all over the rear glass. I went to Home Depot and bought 2 indoor/outdoor grey throw rugs, each about 4 X 5. about $13 each. With the seats out I use both on the floor, with the seats in I use just one in the back folded. I just vacuum them and occasionally hose them off. The seats do not seem to hold hair. I scotchguard the seats and just clean them off with a damp sponge occasionally.

We have a chow mix and took her to the vet in my EX-P last week. My sister sat with her in the back seat and when all was said and done, we had more hair on us than my Element had in it. I offered my Element because I figured without carpet or floor mats, it wouldn't be "that bad". I was pleasantly suprised and actually haven't even vaccuumed yet. I thought for sure I'd be doing so after the appointment but a lint roller did the trick.

If you go with the SC you will need to invest in All Season Floor Mats to protect against muddy dogs, or whatever could mess up carpet.

If hair is all you are worried about, and like the SC more, then go with what you like more. You are going to be in it alone, more than you will be with your dogs.

I have 2 boxers that I like to take to the river. So I am getting all season floor mats to protect the carpet areas. But the easy to clean EX/LX would be nice on those days...

Yes i have 2 big dogs.. and i have put them in the car not for very long just to drop them off at the kennel when we went on vacation or take them to the vet. The clean up is pretty easy..

I stumbled upon the www.Elemmat.com on this website.

This is the way 2 go with big muddy dogs.

We have three pugs, and they shed like mad, but hair removal from the carpet has not really been an issue, and it has yet (knocking wood) to stick to the seat fabric. We also keep them in crates when traveling, as you really should, so that limits the spread of the fuzz.
