When I was finishing my deal on the new E the dealer offered me some sort of super wax that bonds to the paint and I would never need to wax for 7 years. Sounds like complete bs to me, but was sounds great if it would work. Anybody heard of this miracle wax??

I have been restoring and detailing cars since 1965, so I can honestly tell tell you that there is 'no MIRACLE wax!' All cars have a number of coats of paint, the more expensive the car, the more coats of paint! In the old days we would lay on 7 to 10 coats of paint, and then 10 to 12 coats of lacquer, then have to color sand and rub all of that out, but what a Freekin' Shine!!! We only applied PASTE WAX, to further build upon that shine.
Because painter's off spring started being born with four arms and other oddities, OHSA basically killed off lacquer!(smile) Then most painters had to perfect different enamels, particularly the emerons, to try and get that lacquer look. That's when "CLEAR COATS' came out, you could still shot a number of coats, color sand, then start adding clear coats, one by one, rub it out, and come out with that same look!
Of course, Dealers have figured out a way to make more MONEY on top of that by offering these different coatings that the FINANCE MANAGER sells you, and of course he gets a commission on each one! What they are are some kind of NON-BREATHABLE Sealer (i.e., like a varnish) that is applied over the Clear Coat. What they fail to mention is that paint has to breathe, and it expands and contracts with heat and cold.
So, if you buy one of these money-making Miracle Wax coatings for your vehicle, it's going to look real pretty for a while, but eventually it's going to get little spider web cracks that are going to start appearing on the surface of your paint, and continually spreading.
Do yourself a favor, and SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

I'm wondering if the only people who fall for that are the same types who fall for those Nigerian royalty email scams. Guess somebody's falling for it, or they wouldn't keep doing it.

Ziebart sells something they call a Diamond Coat finish they guaranty for so many years but you have to bring the car in annual for a restore on it. I don't buy it. Just waxin fills in the imperfections or holes in the paint to make them smooth and flat instead of pourous. The more you use, the better it looks and more protection obviously. They always have something to try and get you. If they don't you coming, they get you going.

collinite 476s can be had for about $12 for 9 oz so it is very cheap. it is much more durable than other waxes and should last several months. great for winter. not apply it too thick or it will be tough to remove.
no wax or sealant last more than 12 months. dealers sell a quick sealant job for an extreme profit. they should be put in jail for those claims.

Its probably a product called Xzilon. They swear it last 5 years, but in my findings its good for about 5 weeks. usually runs about $5-600.00 at the dealers. It will need maintenance periodically like every other sealant requires. Save your money and purchase one of the below products for under $20.00, and you will have enough for average length of time one owns a car!The Collinite is a good product. I generally use Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection on all the vehicles I detail, or Einszett Glanz Wax.

I'ts a miracle how the dealer can sucker so many new car buyers with their scam. Ever see the movie Fargo. One of the many funny scenes is when the car salesman is trying to sell the sealent. Check it out. And go buy some Mothers Wax.

From Fargo: "Well, we've never done this before. But seeing as it's special circumstances and all, he says I can knock a hundred dollars off that Trucoat."
