I have just had my E a week. It is a LX. I have been reading the threads in wax on wax off. It is the first vehicle I have owned with as much plastic inside or out. I picked up some Mothers Back to Black and some Meguire's interior detailer. I have read that many of you have also used Turtle Wax Ice and/or other waxes on the exterior plastics. Will a plastic dressings like the Mothers back to black interfere with a wax bonding with the surface of the plastic if I use the dressing first? I am not sure of the about the steps I should fallow first as I am detailing the plastic on the E. I could use your suggestions.
Thank you. Carvingbarn.
I don't hv as much exposed plastic as your LX but I have been very happy using one of the three new WOWA sealants (wipe on walk away).
I have all three and all are good. Recommend in this order: Ultima, Optimum Opti-Seal, Zaino Clear-Seal.
They are durable and it is much easier to apply to all exterior surfaces instead of using traditional dressings on plastic and sealant or wax on paint.
I can apply a WOWA sealant in about 10 minutes.
Only trick is to use very sparingly. I prefer a clean, soft MF applicator pad.
You will never have to worry about waxed stained trim if you use these type of products.
Good luck and keep her clean and shining.

Can you find Zaino products at most Auto supply stores? I did not see those products at Pep Boys. I may have just mist them. I will look for then today.
Is it best not to apply wax to the plastic areas?

Zaino, Ultima and Optimum can only be ordered online.
Never apply wax to plastic trim. Most OTC waxes will stain your trim and it is no fun trying to get it off.
You can protect your plastic trim/panels with 303 or other high quality protectants but they tend to wash off much faster than a sealant.
Zaino AIO, Z5 and CS are good products. There are some online retailers running specials now so the Optimum WOWA product can be had for a little cheaper. I am using Ulitma on my E currently and am happy. Also any of these products are great on wheels as well.
Let me know if you need any more info on use or finding products.

The Turtle Wax Ice can be applied to all surfaces and really makes the plastic look good, but it isn't long lasting, you should reapply about every other wash. Drew:)
