: Not sure where to post..but...a thought....
1st I know there lots of ppl here that have achieved a higher education than myself so I apologize for my lack of composition in putting some thoughts down on paper...( or here for that matter.... )..
I have come to a conclusion after I started posting pictures of the Element online that there are those who use the internet as a shield to make their hatred be known without any consideration of whose feeling they hurt or whose feelings they intent to hurt.
I started as I did with my other previous cars a cardomain page for the Element using my wife's name as she is the main driver and thought it would be nice for her to share the thoughts of car aficionados, but all I have found myself doing after this is editing the comments made by some ppl that are totally rude and lack respect alltogether.
I don't want her to read these comments so I edit the guestbook when i'm visiting the site, but now I'm begining to think it would be best to just eliminate the page altogether.
Personally when I look at other ppls vehicles, if I have nothing good to say I view the next vehicle and so on and so forth, but to take the time to type and "diz" other ppls rides.....wow I'm just a bit shocked....
Anyway I guess as ugly as the Element may be to others I find it everyday more to my liking and for that reason I don't want to take the page down....well I needed to vent I guess ....
Thanks for taking the time to read this....

I have seen this type of problem on other sites as well. I am sorry for you and you wife. This is what happens on unmonitored forums. I would prob take the page down as well.
for what its worth, i had a kid roll down his window on the road and let me know how ugly my e is :(

Actually I'm OK about the face to face signs of dissapproval or approval by those who wish to make it known to us ...or it' maybe that I'm dissapointed in general about the overall reaction of those who hide behind the shadows of the NET........and attack....like cowards.....well I should consider the source and keep editing them out ...like fishing with dynamite........
isketerol 09-09-2003, 09:12 PM As they say, "Non Illegitimum Carborundum". Don't let the bastards grind you down.
Incidently, your posts are well-though out, and quite enjoyable to to read. Good to have you aboard.
Kayakin' Dan 09-10-2003, 03:55 AM You just gotta recognize that fact and let them wallow in self loathing and hatred. I see the same things on the kayak boards, "my boat is the best everyone else's sucks" type attitudes. I approach life with the view that "I'm happy, I know what I like and you can't bring me down". I drive a funky car, wear my clothes wrong, my hair too long and paddle a manually powered craft for fun. I must be wacked in the head. But I'm happy with my lot. Non Illegitimum Carborundum...words to live by.

T Mac 09-10-2003, 08:35 AM The Internet is great for information we gain, but it is bad because it allows people's inner ego to come out as well sometimes. I try to remind people not to take things personally, but I know it's hard sometimes. We do our best to maintain a good, fun site here but also we try not to censor opinions. It's when people make personal attacks that I get ticked and we have to take action. Unfortunately, we have lost a few members in the past due to this type of thing when we haven't caught it and put and end to it fast enough.
I'm asking all of our members to be respectful of one another, even if your opinion is different. I'm also asking that when you read a thread that sounds like it's headed out of line... you email me or one of our helpful moderators so we can take care of it.
Thanks, everybody.
StLouisPenguin 09-10-2003, 08:43 AM Just remember that the people who tend to lash out at things with the cloak of the internet are normally the ones that have the least ammount of social skills and intelligence....this is from my personal experiences and of course this is just my two cents on the bject.
I used to be a "reg" in an internet chat room....over the course of several years I met up with many of the other "regs"....and true to form the ones that tended to "lash out" or "slam" others in the chat room were some of the dullest and most unclutured individals that I have ever met.
Just remember if someone has that much rage towards someone or something that they do not know, they have more serious problems that hiding behind the internet. I suspect that they have a great deal of "personal issues".....starting with a lack of manners.
Mean people suck....and it is a shame that you are considering removing something that you are obviously proud of due to the harsh words of flamers. I also have a new respect for you for wanting to protect you wife's feelings....a true gentleman you are HEK!
T Mac 09-10-2003, 10:08 AM StLouisPenguin will be hosting her own talk show on Penguin TV this fall called simply, "Dr. Penguin". Check your local listings.
I thank you all for taking the time to respond on an issue that was very much on my mind for the past few days......
But like today is another day and after getting all this "love" from all of you I know I may have been letting my feelings take the best of me and not reacting as tough old Hek as I was known in the streets of Hartford back when "mano a mano" was the only way to survive and make friends... :x
What also comes to mnd is that all this for the looks of a vehicle...I have laugh to myself and think back when other "not so nice vehicles" where 1st introduced......ehem ...the AMC Pacer....I don't ever remember ever telling my neighbor how ugly her car was....or even my other neighbor and his green Gremlin ....
No wonder I love my dog so much.... :D ..he never hides his feelings....
..I thank you again amigos....
EDIT.....I thought I was the only one but I just found this topic here....wow..

jessewilliams 09-10-2003, 11:27 PM Don't let them bother you. They are just people who do not understand, unerstand the practicallity and the quirkieness that makes us love our E's. Love them enough to put up pics, love them enough to join an owners club page. :D Sorry for the spelling but I have become lost without a spell check.
Sons of Liberty 09-11-2003, 07:43 AM I was stopped at a light yesterday and the guy next to me, who had his windows rolled down too, yelled out "That's an ugly car". I quickly told him that I thought he was #1 by holding up one finger, and drove off, quite amused by his comment.
The world does not have a shortage of a-holes, and as I get older I just don't let them bother me anymore.
Regards,
SOL
klynch13 09-12-2003, 04:22 PM Sometimes people can be so stupid. Just look at it this way. Most people who criticize something they don't understand usually hate it or simply can't afford it  .
Don't let people's opinion bring you down. I like the #1 thing sons of liberty did but something like that can get you killed (no offense liberty I thought it was funny). People can be jerks. I had a bumper sticker on my old accord that said "mean people suck". I've been thinking of getting one on my car that says "Have an opinion about my car? DIAL 1-800-DON'T-GIVE-A-S@1T".(sorry about the curse but I had to prove my point)
Unfortunately it is a different world we live in. I told my Dad about this post and he said,"Back in my day if we had a problem with another kid they would box at the YMCA but these days they will kill ya for just looking at you the wrong way." He's right. What happened? Does anyone care about people's feelings? Who takes the blame? Parents, friends, TV, movies, Video games? Who's to blame? I sure and hell don't know. Makes you not want to have kids because you are afraid what they might turn into. It's a scary world out there.
Sorry I might be going in the wrong direction with this or went into something else.
Take care all.

StLouisPenguin 09-12-2003, 06:47 PM kylnch....
you posed an interesting question "Who's to blame?"
I would like to pose a different question....
Whatever happened to self responsibility?
I am personally very sick of people these days "blaming" someone or something for just about everything, maybe I am stepping outside the scope of this thread, but in all honestly I would like to figure out when society stopped taking personal responsibility for their actions and started blaming everything and anything on anyone or anything besides stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility for their actions/problems/issues.
Okay that is my two cents....I now return you to your thread.
zarathustra 09-12-2003, 07:19 PM Welcome to the Age of Entiltement!

WooohooOOOoOO! We deserve it even before we earn it!
klynch13 09-12-2003, 11:02 PM Penguin-
That's exactly what I was getting at. Self-responsibility. I was leading to that. I don't blame anyone. You don't solve problems by "pointing the finger". I just hope I do the right thing when I become a parent.
