This is our new E pup. We lost our faitful old golded a year ago. We needed a pup to match the E. My sister raises Border collies, so we will have our E-pup after the first of the year.

Yes, what JoJo and HIker Chick said.

My mom-in-law had a border collie. It was crazed, overly energetic (not a dog two elderly people should have had), smart and sweet. She was very focused LOL on her ball. She would constantly drop it in front of you and stare at it until you threw it. If you didn't she'd just stayed put and stared endlessly at the ball or every so often nudge the ball closer to you.

We have a neighbor who used to breed border collies but, unfortunately, when she stopped she didn't find new homes for them so now she has 19 "pets" and we end up taking care of them when she goes away. She's also elderly so we move the bags of food around for her, etc. They would be great dogs but they're older and don't have enough human contact so they're not very well behaved.

Please post more pictures.

I always know when someone on the EOC gets a dog it's going to get top notch care and love. As for mine, I put him to work on the constuction site:

Good looking puppy! Needed one to match the E? I see the pup has painted panels.:D
Boarders are so smart! Had we not opted for Yorkies, the Boarder would have been my next choice for sure.

The Pup- E will be named Chips. Borders need a lot of attention, especially in the beginning. They will be the master if you let them. Not all agree with this, but there is a difference in different Border collie lines. Some have been bread to enhance the hyper part of there personalities. For speed ball and other types of competitions. The line this dog comes from has a history of being more laid back, still Borders but not so hyper. My sister has 6 of them.

When I walked into the shelter to adopt a dog, after I had read the shelf on dogs from the public library, my choices were, in order:

1. German Shepherd

2. Border Collie

I later came to love Huskies, when my puppy befriended a neighborhood husky.

Great picture; keep them coming.

Awesome pic, he's a cutiepie! :D I love herding dogs especially, they're like the old oxymoron: Cute AND smart!

There's definitely a difference in border collie lines. I'm more familiar with Australian Shepherds than I am with borders, but the same thing happens there. One of the big differences in Aussies is if the breeder is with the AKC or the ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America). The ASCA declined to join the AKC and concentrates its breeding oversight on utility, herding, and overall health. A split organization, the United States Australian Shepherd Association, joined the AKC and concentrates more on appearance and adherence to the AKC written breed conformance standard than utility. Lines from kennels belonging to the two different organizations can be very different in personality, demeanor, and even somewhat in appearance.

Border Collie's are pretty high maintenance. At least I think so, never owned one.

Border Collie's are pretty high maintenance. At least I think so, never owned one.

They're not high maintenance (brushing, washing, etc.) but they're extremely intelligent and energetic and need to be run HARD, challenged mentally, and given a job to do every day. They can be great, great dogs but as with any breed, you have to know what you're getting into first. Also, as mentioned above, it depends on what line they come from. If they come from a real working line, you'd better have a big job lined up for it (or even several) or both of you will be miserable. But if you love to run and play and interact with an intelligent creature, they may be great for you :D
