I just had a set of Michelin Latitude X-Ice winter tires installed on my E.
It's made quite a difference in how the vehicle feels...much heavier feeling, if that makes sense...

When I turn the steering wheel, it feels like I have to work harder to do it, and it has a weighted feeling...with the stock rims and tires, the steering has a very easy, free moving feeling to it...

I'm filling up the tank tonight, so I'll make note of how much of a difference the tires make on gas milage...

Check your air pressure. It maybe different than you are used to running.

I also just pust a set of Coopers (M&S studded) on my E, and have noticed some of what you concerned with, but, mine are also studded. Because of a more agreesive tread, there is more contacting the road versus "regular" tires, thus possibly creating more drag while turning. I agree with the air pressure check. I run mine at 35 all around.

Hope this helps.

Merry Christmas! :-) (insert Santa hatted emoticon here)

I also think you should check the air pressure. I've been running X-Ice for two winters and my E feels less heavy on these. I think they are great tires. BTW, it's 3 degrees and dropping right now in Minnesota.

Second Winter with my Michelin Latitude X Ice's. They are a superior tire to the Wrangler's in the wet and the dry. My tire guy who owns the shop and races in the SCCA World Challenge and the Grand Am equivalent with a TSX couldnt believe the difference between the two when he took my E for a test drive after installing the tires last December. First time in 30 years in the tire business when the winter tire performed better. And he alwsy beats Tire Rack in the on the car and out the door price.

BTW I drive and hour and half to his place in Silver Spring MD since they are the best tire shop in PA, MD, VA, WVA and NC. Only tire shop I know that can abalance the tires for you on the car.

i too have the X-Ice winter tires. starting the second winter with them, i can't say enough about how well they work. excellent product.
we had snow over the weekend and my brother was using my e to move some things. when he dropped it back off he was talking non stop about how well the all wheel drive and winter tires gripped.

I live in Central Oregon and I put the x-ice on my e. I like them better than the studded snow tires I had on last winter. They are also very quiet.
