Not totally related to the E, although I will use it for camping. But you guys probably have the answer.

I want to buy a solid boombox that I can hook my IPOD to without using a FM Transmitter. I'm assuming they have a bunch out there, but does anyone have some recommendations. Since I will be using camping and outdoors, prefer not to spend a ton on it since it could meet a horrible fate someday.

Thanks Everybody

COSTCO has a number of iPod accessories. If you're not a member at least it's a reference point you can use to research other retailers.

we just got our son the IPenguin.. cute little animal shaped "speaker" for about $20. There small so they wont take up much room and they also come in other cute little animal shapes.. ( you can ever get clothes for them!) Honestly any set of travel speaker's should work with the Ipod.

I like the Tivoli Audio portables, they are well made and have a weather-resistant, rubberized coating. They have a green one to go with your E or an iPod white one (iPAL) too.

although not a boombox, i have the JBL On Tour and I take it camping and for hotel travel. great sounds in a very portable package:

Russbuss..nice choice of car

Anyways, thanks for the inputs..i think i'll be skipping the penguin (sorry)

I was looking at these two...maybe someone has experience with either brand or type model....i'm assuming the IPOD just snaps in and it doesn't wiggle around....and the sound is probabyl worlds better than the itrip or other fm transmitters.

likewise, kiwi is the best flavor of element.:D

come to think of it, one of my buddies brought one of these boomboxes to a bbq once and the thing sounded amazing. had great bass response and clear sound for an outdoor event.

I've read good things about the Logitech AudioStation, but as I recall it requires AC power so you'd need an inverter (and you'd probably also want to convert a power outlet to always-on (http://gaia.ecs.csus.edu/~joel/fun/element/RearOutletWire/rearoutletwire.htm))

My dad has the same one that russbuss posted. He likes it. I use computer speakers because they sound really good and are cheaper then stuff that is made specifically for the iPod. Most companies see that they can throw "Made for iPod" on the box and think they can bump up the price. I have 2 nice sets of speakers with subwoofers and didn't pay more than 30 for either of them.
