Hey all, I was looking into the idea of swapping my steering wheel with a pilot wheel but I couldn't overcome the cost & installation issues.
I use my iPod most of the time and found a way to make it easy to control the stero without the expense or time. I purchased a "TuneStick" FM radio transmitter to allow my ipod to come through the radio (tune to 88.5 type thing). The cool part is that it also came with a little wireless remote control that mounts on your steering wheel.
Now, with this I can control all of the routine functions of my ipod right from my steering wheel without taking my eyes off the road.
The unit comes with a little holder that I decided was too bulky. I velcored mine to the spot where the radio controls would normally be. T
My next issue was to be able to see the controls at night. I took a office hole punch and punched out some glow in the dark tape dots. I applied them to each of the buttons and voila! I have a remote that serves all my needs night and day.
Hope some of you ipod junkies find this useful. I wasn't weather to put this in electroncs or DIY but here you go.
Happy Holidays and Enjoy,
