Am I the only one who thinks Iowa should be in there with Illinois or Wisconsin? I think of Iowa as much more Mid west than Heartland. Perhaps this is because I'm an Eastern Iowan? Any other Iowans who feel like this? I guess that as a geography major, I feel the Heartland is west of the Missouri River. Maybe I'm just insane.

this has been beaten to death. There were reasons for why the states were divided as they were, do a search and you'll see.

Since the Missouri River starts in Montana and goes through both North and South Dakota before heading south, where would you consider the West starting?

I did a search for "E Club Divisions" and "geographic division" with no matches. What search terms do you suggest to find this topic?

Give me a minute and I'll find it...

Just so everyone knows that when I redid the Regional Clubs I spent a few weeks doing lots of research online checking everything from mapping companies to trucking companies and all sorts of websites in between, including many other car clubs.

can't find it... it must have been deleted because of a few issues we had with a couple people back then.

if you do a search on Regional Forums you'll find several threads where it has been discussed.

If you really want to know I can write up the reasons for the various regions doing the best I can from memory, most of which I do recall. lol

I guess it would lie with the geography, culture, and topography of the majority of the state. Iowa tends to have rolling hills with several(A buttload of) rivers and wooded areas. This is usually indicitave of the regions that escaped glaciation, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, ect. As for where the west starts, I would roughly think to draw a line from the Minnesota/Dakotas boarder down. I would even include Missouri in both midwest and south, again depending on culture and topography. Just thoughts.

I never think of Iowa as the midwest. I grew up in the Midwest. I've always considered it in the "heartland of America."
