: Dog Lovers, Play The Cheerion Game!!!
Katmandu 01-10-2008, 07:58 AM Looking for a VERY entertaining game that you and your dog(s) will both enjoy!! :D
This game is best played in the kitchen where you may have a linoleum floor.
Simply, take a couple handfuls of Cheerios and spread them out across the edge of a table, and start flicking them off one by one with your finger to your dog(s)!
They will absolutely LOVE catching them, chasing them and searching for them all across the kitchen floor!
My dogs and I LOVE playing this little game!
You cat will love it too!! Ours just sits there and stares at us like we are all crazy!! LOL !
Twilightzero 01-10-2008, 09:26 AM A) My dogs are already fat enough as it is...
B) I hate cleaning up stray Cheerios!
C) I don't have any Cheerios...
All of these are excuses why not to play this game. But I want to SO BAD because I know it would drive both the dogs AND the cats crazy!
Brawsie 01-10-2008, 09:54 AM I play that game too, 'cept I use baby chickens instead of cheerios.;-)

BigAl205 01-10-2008, 09:56 AM I love it when they ram head first into the cabinet...just precious. :D
wolfhounder 01-10-2008, 10:03 AM or try the flowerpot game!
put a cheerio underneath a plastic cup with 2 other empty ones, switch the order around and make your dog guess which one the cheerio is under. great fun for all dogs, but mentally stimulating for older or injured dogs

Solid 01-11-2008, 02:41 AM Search and rescue game:
Have you dog sit-stay. Show him his favorite (preferably smelly) snack.
Walk into another room and hide it. At first, hide it ON something, like a bed or a couch, then make it more challenging as your dog better understands the game.
Return to original room, give a command to seek. I use "OK, go find it!" in an excited voice.
Walk with your dog to the other room and help with pointing out the snack if the dog struggles to find the snack.

I used to play this game with my doggie and a starfish LOL I had a real starfish that was dried out and my dog went NUTS about it. I could have my roommate take him out and I'd hide it in the cabinet above the refrigerator and he would come in and find it! I eventually had to give it away because of his obsession!
Rocket Dog 01-11-2008, 11:04 AM My dog Megan and I play this game often. I'm pretty good at it unless she flings one under the fridge. I'm not THAT desperate.
I usually catch them on the first bounce.

When I first started reading I was horrified at the sight of a little starfish crawling across the floor trying to find a hidden (shrimp?) with a dog jumping around it going "here it is, here it is!".
what to relief to know the little guy was already DEAD, but hey he was still in the game:)
I'm getting ready for my nightmares to return tonight:-(
