: struggling to move?

I've noticed that sometimes my E absolutely struggles to get going up to even a low speed. It sorta feels like it didn't quite get in gear or something (it's an automatic).

I've noticed that it's:
a. not always
b. not related to the temperature - if it starts that way, it'll continue unit I restart it
c. not related to the grade of the road, hill, etc.

Anyone else experiencing this? It's getting to be rather annoying.

cheers,

I had a problem with an old Volvo 240 like this that only happened when it rained. It was only firing on 1 cylinder. Spraying WD-40 on the wires got it fixed in a hurry. I also had a similar problem with an '83 Accord I had, but it had 130K on it and was beat to hell. I find it hard to believe that this would happen on a new Honda, but you never know.

BUG, you probably need the dealer to check this out ASAP.

Good luck,
SOL

Yeah. Well, FINALLY, after almost an entire month, the dealer's finally going to get around to installing the addons I bought, so I'll bring it up then.

thanks. :)

I noticed the same with mine until about 4500 miles. Then it was fine.

It feels like it's taking off in 2nd gear.:( Only happens occasionally. I'm hoping it goes away when the computer feels the break-in period is over. I'm currently at 4k.

I'm having a similar issue ('04 4WD EX Auto w/1500 miles). It's just sluggish. I just kind of accepted it until I went in to the dealer to have some options installed and they let me drive another one (an '03)... it really moved. Mine just doesn't have much get up and go -- really have to lay on the gas. It's like it's starting out in 2nd gear. I've also noticed that the headlights will occassionally dim a bit/get brighter when the RPMs increase/drop. Is this out of the ordinary?

The headlight dimming is common- there's a thread about it somewhere- but I thought it was tied to the AC compressor kicking in.

i have the same issue. how is you gas mileage? mine is the pits. i have had it to the dealer 3 times and they tell me that there is nothing wrong. i have even had them in the e when it is happening and was told that is normal. looking for a new dealer.

Ah... The dimming headlights could be related to the AC (it's already burnin' up down here in South Carolina). I haven't paid attention to whether or not it's on. Tried searching the forum for this, but the search feature isn't working properly. Regarding MPG... I'm averaging about 260/270 on a tank. That's pretty sorry for a vehicle (with a 15.9 gallon tank) rated 21 for stop-and-go driving. I don't get it.

Again... apologies if these things have been discussed, but I'm a newbie and the search isn't working (at least for me).

I should add... Let's keep this on topic about the sluggishness. I see there's a gas mileage thread (or two) already.

the sluggishness could be related to mpg. if the trans is not working correctly then mpg can be down. it would be nice if we could correlate low mpg and auto trans with sluggishness. are all the hi/good mpg people driving the 5spd or have auto's that are not sluggish? i personnaly think that the trans is not working correctly. thus not allowing the engine power to get to the wheels. so, inturn the engine uses more fuel. hence, low mpg.

Mine, one of the "sluggish" ones, is a fairly new AWD EX AUTO (1500 Miles). I thought this might fix itself after the break-in period, so I haven't said anything to the dealer yet. I am getting pretty crappy gas mileage also -- well under the lowest rating, no matter how you crunch the numbers. It just doesn't feel like it's getting much power. At times, I feel like I'm back in high school driving my Toyota Tercel (ah, the memories) -- OK, so it's not that bad, but it could be better. Honestly, I would've have thought it was a problem until I drove the 03 (2WD?) at the dealership. It really moves when compared with mine.

I have yet to notice this. However, when I was completely loaded down with stuff (helping my mom move) I could barely get up a large hill. I put it into 1st gear (I have an auto) and screamed up the hill!!! :P
