: Sibling Rivalry: EOC & ROC
JSm00thJaZ3 01-20-2008, 01:03 PM Rivalry ? Maybe, maybe not. It looks like the Ridgeline Owners Club are afraid of being outnumbered. Could we get 100 Elements to show-up ?Go EOC!

If I hadn't planned the Wyoming trip already....I'd add in to make a hundred!
And what's that comment on that thread "it takes 2 elements to equal 1 ridgeline!" Peh-shaw!:-x
Tim Vance 01-20-2008, 04:12 PM maybe they are referring to fuel costs, insurance and maintenance...?
(I really can't say much...I want to replace the Sunfire with Ridgeline...)
special k 01-20-2008, 04:25 PM It's really not a fair comparison though. The ridgeline hasn't been out as long. Also it's a true homecoming for the EOC but not the ROC. The ridgeline is built up near Tim in Allison, Ontario. element in East Liberty, OH.
T Mac 01-20-2008, 04:43 PM We will have more Elements for sure. I'm glad they are trying to encourage others from ROC to participate. It will be one crazy weekend with so many Honda owners in one place. I'm sure it will be a good time for all.

My nephew work's in the Alliston plant that makes the Ridgelines...
Too bad Honda doesn't have the 'friends and family' discounts...
Yeah, as Tom (T Mac) said, I am trying to boost the Ridgeline attendee numbers. Personally, I am guesstimating 100 Elements and 50 Ridgelines attending.... oh man, what a sight that would be! .....hahah, we'll need a mall parking lot to get us all together!
One thing for sure, the weekend is going to be crazy. I can't wait to see your Elements!:cool::cool::cool::cool:
bh241 01-20-2008, 08:17 PM I agree it's not a 'fair fight'. I'm certain there will be more E's than Ridgelines (is there a short name for them? an "R" maybe?? ).
Personally I would feel honored to associate with anyone who has one of those awesome pickup trucks. :) (we can't all drive E's  )
Tim Vance 01-20-2008, 08:18 PM They call themselves ROC's....
And drive Ridges....

One of the Maybe votes is mine, but that has since been changed to yes.

Twilightzero 01-22-2008, 09:23 AM Hmmm...are we going to have a segregated parking lot?

If this is the RIGHT crowd--I really don't want to mess with the WRONG crowd!
The ROCers would probably hold my head under the jello pool and take bets on how long I could hold my breath....hey the EOCers arn't planning that....are they:confused:

Only if you can get it painted in Prince Purple Rain Metallic, and I think Church Brothers here in Indy can do that for you as you pass through on your way there, or BlueWillow's husband may be able to fix you up with his spray booth!:???:

OMG if someone offered Prince Purple Rain Pearl, I'd sooooooooo be there!
One of the greatest music movies of all time. Just fast forward the "acting" and get to the REAL reason you're watching it

I thought he was awesome for last years Super Bowl halftime show! I don't think there will ever be another one like it. To be singing Purple Rain, in the rain. You couldn't have asked for a better platform or visual effects than that.

Agreed, that was an incredible show. Hella hard on the equipment though, I hope those were only copies he was playing on and not the original pieces!
chozn4service 01-25-2008, 10:54 AM You know Prince is somewhat of an introvert. I loved it when they had the press conference a few days before the game, the entire group was in the press room and when the media came, they were told that Prince and the band would take questions. Well they enter the room and there he is in the front of the room with all his band members as they had be practicing. Some guy ask if there were any questions for Prince or the band and a local reporter from Indy's WTHR Andrea Moorehead asked "So how will you feel about playing the halftime show?" and Prince steps to the mic, acts as though he's going to speak and in a split second knods his head and he and the band started playing a medley of his songs for about 45mins non-stop. It was off the hook! He's a very talented guy! I'm still waiting on another half time show to out do that one.

I've been following Prince and his music since I was old enough to know who he was. Unbelievably talented guy, one of the few true musical geniuses in this world. From what I've heard, his unreleased back catalog is in the thousands of songs, fully recorded and mastered. I believe if you join his club at his website, he gives away a free song every week or month that's from his catalog.
He's also an incredible control freak, as any musical genius will by nature be. Roughly half of the songs on the Purple Rain soundtrack were recorded live at First Avenue in Minneapolis by him and his live band. The rest of the tracks were studio recorded and he played EVERYTHING. Same with many of his albums - except for some occasional horn parts he's credited with writing, singing, and playing everything. Because he wants it to sound just exactly so, matching perfectly what's in his head, and it's nigh unto impossible to get that with other people playing the parts.
Yeah he's an introvert too. He generally hates publicity and will go out of his way to avoid it unless he's in his stage persona, in which case everything's been practiced to a T.
Yeah I'm not seeing Tom Petty even coming anywhere in the same universe as last year's show...
