: 2008 International Meet Hotel - VOTE NOW!
T Mac 01-21-2008, 11:42 AM We have found a couple of great places to stay for the meet, but the best rated hotel that also has the most space and can accomodate all of us is $116 per night. This includes breakfast, wi-fi, a manager's reception each night (drinks) and they are willing to hook up hoses, etc. for us. Plus, this is in the "nice" part of Columbus with access to great dining and shopping and a straight show to our destinations for Friday/Saturday. If $116 sounds high, understand that this place has a regular rate of over 200 on weekends.
Oh, they said they would also rope off part of the parking lot so we could park in an area together. And they have a large indoor atrium area for gathering and hanging out late into the night.
The next best solution is to find two cheaper hotels that are side-by-side where we can split rooms between the hotels. These places will be further into the city and are not as highly rated and, while they get okay reviews, we're not sure what we're getting yet. They'd be priced in the $55-60 range.
To me, the best option is to go with the $116 per night. Does anyone disagree? Thoughts??
Ultimately, we'll go with what we think is best but I'm always interested in getting input from the membership. Thanks!
EDIT: Julie just reminded me that the $116 hotel are suite rooms so you could maybe even share rooms with someone else.
bh241 01-21-2008, 11:51 AM Honestly neither really sounds ideal.
However, if the higher end motel is your preference go with that, as long as it's possible to get a 'one night reservation' those of us who don't want to spend that kind of money can camp and spend one night at the motel.
I doubt everyone will want to spend this kind of money for the weekend (or longer) - at least I wouldn't. I'll still be there, just not at the motel.
juliE 01-21-2008, 11:54 AM Another point to consider is that the more expensive hotel is also an all suite hotel, so you have two rooms. In the living area, the couch converts to a bed.
bh241 01-21-2008, 12:01 PM Now there is a thought. If we could go in together and do some room 'sharing' then that puts the cost per person down to a very reasonable rate.
I'm sure that would work. It would for me, even if I had to room with Rocket Dog.
Seriously, I like the thoughts of that - That would work. :)
kissya 01-21-2008, 12:39 PM I'm sure that would work. It would for me, even if I had to room with Rocket Dog.

Wait..if we have to share...I'm rooming with RD!!!
Junebug 01-21-2008, 12:39 PM I am okay with either rate, but find the parking together option very appealing ... that said, I'll also try to share a room.
RD getting multiple roomies?
And they call me a ho?
Rocket Dog 01-21-2008, 01:13 PM Sorry, I'm sharing a room with RD. I saw him first.
EDIT: I vote for the nicer hotel.
Gaily 01-21-2008, 01:18 PM I'm already sharing & the $116 price is cheep compared to what we have spent in the past. Go with the place that accommodates us the best.
By the way how far from the plant is this hotel? :D
Gaily
ORANGEE 01-21-2008, 01:25 PM Do either of these hotels allow dogs - specifically large dogs of around 100lbs?
Twilightzero 01-21-2008, 01:27 PM I'll go with the more expensive one too - I feel it's much better to have everyone all in one place.
I'm gettin the room next to RD's so I can eavesdrop on the screaming and whipping through the wall when Hojo gets to him
Twilightzero 01-21-2008, 01:34 PM I doubt you'd hear anything over your chainsaws.
Curses, foiled again!!
This is shaping up to be one crazy good time

I was thinking you wouldn't hear anything because of the duct tape, but what do I know................
Twilightzero 01-21-2008, 01:39 PM I was thinking you wouldn't hear anything because of the duct tape, but what do I know................
Wonder how much I could sell tickets for...
Tim Vance 01-21-2008, 01:44 PM Wonder how much I could sell tickets for...
Probably enough to cover the cost of the room...
But that'll be hard to do, once I hack into the room cameras, and broadcast it over youtube....
Whatever will accommodate all of us the best Tom. We'll just rent out the couch to Jake for the night...(and camp the rest of the week...)
(aside from the shower, I can't see the room getting much use....)
Can you tell us approximately where the hotel is????
OK I'll go with the pricey room, since it's coming with so much entertainment
Twilightzero 01-21-2008, 02:30 PM Seriously, I think it would be much better to have everyone in the same hotel together. I remember the grand times we had in Vegas in the parking ramp at 1 AM... It was just a lot of fun having everyone at the same place so random hangouts and whatnot can occur like that.

1:00AM is past my bedtime:-(
T Mac 01-21-2008, 02:45 PM Can you tell us approximately where the hotel is????
Trying for Dublin area (northwest).
Otherwise would be Worthington area (north)

Excellent!
Thank you
sixstring 01-21-2008, 02:56 PM just so there's a waffle house close.........I love those:D
YH2738EW 01-21-2008, 03:11 PM I agree that the $116/night hotel sounds like the best choice. It will provide the parking, facilities and amenities that will allow the best overall experience at the meet. In past meets I have attended with another group, the hotel always turned out to be a major part of the weekend as did having most attendees in the same location. Even the few times that I was not able to stay at the actual meet hotel, the facilities there were still very important.
bh045ct 01-21-2008, 03:28 PM I vote for the $116.00 hotel. Convenience, togetherness is important. Not sure where this hotel is, however I have stayed in the Dublin area before and it is a great area.
Spotman 01-21-2008, 03:29 PM I doubt you'd hear anything over your chainsaws.
This sounds like a great deal, we accept and vote for the "GOOD" hotel. Is it an Embassy Suites, sure sounds like it:D
I will bring "extra" sets of handcuffs if needed:evil:
NighthawkStella 01-21-2008, 03:33 PM as far as I am concerned, all we need is a parking lot right? In St. Louis that's where I spent most of my time! :)
I agree having us all in one place is the best...so we can hang out whenever and wherever. Easy access to restaurants is a plus...sounds pretty easy to double/triple up too...doubt there will be much time to sleep!
Dom.five 01-21-2008, 03:33 PM Ok 116.$
I'm in !
Dom
juliE 01-21-2008, 03:33 PM Hi Gail! The nicer hotel is about 10 miles closer to the plant.
BigAl205 01-21-2008, 03:36 PM I want..no DEMAND 5-star accommodations.:D $116 sounds fine to me. What days are everybody rolling in and leaving?
Spotman 01-21-2008, 03:44 PM Also, if any fellow EOC members and/or Virginians' need a room for the night or just a shower/freshen up, if camping, please let us know.
:rolleyes:My wife says that I sometime snore, but I don't know, with all the noise, it doesn't wake me up:confused: Who knows, with all that Captain Morgan and rumors of late nite partying, I may never go to bed:wink:
Us Senior Citizens need to show the "Youngens" how to party:razz:all night.
redwing blackbird 01-21-2008, 03:49 PM Is partying mandatory?
I'll go for the $116 as well. Sure, cheaper would be good, but I like the idea of the roped off parking, easy access to dining and especially a gathering place in the hotel. All worth the extra expense.
Twilightzero 01-21-2008, 03:54 PM Is partying mandatory?
Yes. Those who do not party will be forced to regret it terribly.
cai88 01-21-2008, 04:21 PM I'm down for $116 a night. Is there hot tubs? hehehehe:evil:
Twilightzero 01-21-2008, 04:25 PM I'm down for $116 a night. Is there hot tubs? hehehehe:evil:
For $116/night, there damn well better be!
cai88 01-21-2008, 04:26 PM Sweet!! I'll bring the jello!
I'm down for $116 a night. Is there hot tubs? hehehehe:evil:
and trampolines?
BigAl and I like our hot tubs on trampolines...just cuz.
Twilightzero 01-21-2008, 04:27 PM Trampoline into a hot tub filled with Jell-O?
Wow I better bring the video camera, this could be youtube gold!!
Or better...
BigAl205 01-21-2008, 04:28 PM Let's get jiggly wit' it!
cai88 01-21-2008, 04:28 PM we might need live web casts this year.

Totally but we're excited!
DCbox 01-21-2008, 04:31 PM Compared to Vegas, $116. is cheap I'm in.
stocazzo 01-21-2008, 05:11 PM Way down for the $116 room.
Now I just have to decide who to bring.
Element625 01-21-2008, 05:16 PM Do either of these hotels allow dogs - specifically large dogs of around 100lbs?
Sure they do. I mean they have to if RD is getting in...right? He has to go over 100lbs!! As for me either option is fine. Alas not really been around here long enough to know someone well enough to share. I guess I could just sleep in the E!! But I am probably good for the hotel idea. I mean why waste a good room.
ron"E"boy 01-21-2008, 05:21 PM I'm in 4 the better hotel with all of us in one spot.
MIST E 01-21-2008, 07:17 PM I'm in for the more expensive one. Better area and better motel and everybody together means more fun. Plus I won't have to worry about the E getting banged up! :-D
juliE 01-21-2008, 07:44 PM Hi Everybody! Thanks for all of your responses (except maybe the hot tub/jello ones, a little too much info! :D) We will try to post the exact accomodations tomorrow or Wednesday!
Twilightzero 01-21-2008, 09:39 PM (except maybe the hot tub/jello ones, a little too much info! :D)
Just doing our job, ma'am
Justinb845 01-22-2008, 06:50 AM I vote for $116 Jake and I are bunking together. And after at phone call last night.......I guess an ajoining room with Carly.
(shuttering) Am I admitting that I want to do this with them?
Not that it would be a big issue.
So that is my vote.
I allready have directions to the hotel.
Yes. Those who do not party will be forced to regret it terribly.
That's odd. Usually when I do party, I regret it terribly. Especially when there's a 9 hour drive in the morning. So I suppose that if I'm going to regret it either way, I'll party.
ramblerdan 01-22-2008, 08:47 AM +1 on the better, larger hotel. I hope they have hot tub suites.
Justinb845 01-22-2008, 08:50 AM +1 on the better, larger hotel. I hope they have hot tub suites.
I sence a theme here
TARDIS 01-22-2008, 10:36 AM Hey, $116 sounds fine to me. Even better if our dollar stays strong. It's more important to have the parking in one place. I remember St. Louis, well the parking lot parties!
Hot tubs would be awsome after a long road trip down. Looking forward to this meet. Maybe we can get a Canadian convoy to travel down.

ANDREW!!!!
Elaine and I are a definite (like we would have gone, even if no one else showed! Adrian says he may be able to make it...!)
hownowcb 01-22-2008, 03:29 PM One more vote for the $116 version. Hide the women 'n' children! Oh wait, I was a chaperone at Columbus last time. And also likely to have my own along if I manage to show up this time! Never mind.
Justinb845 01-22-2008, 03:58 PM Voting is over right?
juliE 01-22-2008, 07:33 PM Yep! It's now a done deal, so check out the official hotel thread!
