:DTo all those that have been inquiring about the setting of the Guinness Record for the most Hondas driving in a line, here you go.

I have been speaking/online with Tom about getting this going during the Annual Meet. We are still working out the final details with Guinness and Honda, we are covering all bases allowed; newspapers, radio, TV, word of mouth, sponsors, etc. So... be patient, it will happen.

Spread the word throughout your areas and to fellow E owners and Ridgeline owners. Guinness states that in a vehicle type record, it will be about the make of the vehicle not the model. This will give us more coverage on the number of Hondas.

Bob

More to come...

But do we get Extra credit if there are more Elements...:)

You know like: Honda Elements have the Guiness Record for most cars driving in a row...and oh yeah there were a couple of Ridglines and CRV's in there too

Great!
I hope we can work hard here in Columbus and have as much Hondas as we can out there. If you manage to get some nice fliers I can post them at OSU and in our apartment complex. There are some many Hondas around here and it is not a long drive for us.

Thanks guys!

Have you noticed how wacky these international meet threads are getting?

Speaking of Guinness records - why don't you just go for the record of drinking the most Guinness? Sounds like some might be well on their way to a record already !

Is there a current record or is this going to be a new category?

We better not tell the large groups that drive the Dragon (road on the NC/TN border). I think there is serious competition there. Then again, if we got a hold of the Accord and Civic clubs.... we would have 500+ Hondas, but too many children to invite them.

There is no current record for Honda.

If you know other Honda owners, all are welcome to get in on this.

This is the current record...

The current record for "Largest parade of Honda cars" is:
A parade of 101 Honda/Acura Integra Type-R cars took place at BeaveRun MotorSports ComPlex, Wampum, Pennsylvania, USA on 12 April 2003 as part of the 2003 Integra Type R Exposition

If the record is all Hondas then I'm thinking of canvasing the town with fliers.

Maybe hit all the Honda dealers, Mechanics, CTuner shops, Colleges, grocery stores etc.

it'll dilute the numbers of Elements and Ridgelines but it should help our chances at the record.

You really, really need to be there. This is going to be a huge event! If you miss it, you're regret it for at least 365 days until the next big event and even still, you may not recover. Did I say this particular meet, in Ohio, on June 20-22 is going to be HUGE? I've missed the previous ones due to the passing of my mom, a family reunion and some other personal things but this one, this one you've got to be at. I mean if you don't make any other ones, or another one in your life, this is the one to be at. That's all I can say. So let that marinate for a couple of days and then, we hope you post that you and the fam are in. Again, did I say this is going to be huge? Big! Really Big! Be there.

Peace!

Just goes to show they know how to commit but not organize. That's why I'm calling all EOC members who are within a day drive of this event to commit to it. This is going to be the bomb of all events and we need the support of the body. We're only as strong as our weakest link.

I bet Hummer didn't hold their meet in Mishawaka, Indiana where the Hummer is made and if they did, I bet they didn't get a tour of the joint. Element owners need to come on and get in on this. See how your sled was put together and possibly get some info on what may be coming to we we love so much in an automobile.

Was on the Guinness Book of World Records site and saw what they had down for vehicles in a line or parade. This is what I came up with.

Tow Trucks In Washington state 83, the Netherlands had 107 BMW Coupe Club, Mazda had 249 in New Zealand and Fiat had 500 in Italy but no mention of the Mini Cooper's in Virginia Beach.

I wonder what our numbers will be? Also there were no other mentions of any other manufacturers other than what I've listed.

Chozn & 0thers;

Let me try to clear something up, Guinness will put you on their site and in the book if you can "afford" to pay for a Guinness Rep to fly over 1st class and put up in the best hotel. (any BIG contributors here?)

This is not to say we are not recognized by them, I will submit all of the proper "after" paperwork and photos/videos to them and we will receive a certificate (to be duplicated many times over). This is probably why it takes a while to get in the book(published later).

Time will tell, we know that we will set a record that will be difficult to match! Go EOC, ROC, CRVOC all Honda OC's.

The way i understand the agenda is that the "record attempt" will be made after an event at a currently undisclosed Honda location.

Does this mean those outsiders/ non E/CRV/ R owners that would bring their Honda vehicles to join the attempt would have to register for the event and then attend the event on Satuday in order to be present for the record attempt?

this may make it tougher to run up the numbers.

Also does it count as an additional Honda if in bring my 90 Integra with a JDM (Honda Integra) nose on it??

jurneez
03-27-2008, 03:54 PM
Can we discuss the possibility of running an ad, small one, in the local papers out that way and or contacting radio stations for free psa time......

I'm sure there are locals who have never heard of us and like proteus said, we want high numbers but can't make it difficult for the non-club owners.....

Maybe we could send a brief to the entertainment section of the daily out there....

I thought about that too.

I have considered canvasing the Honda dealers, garages, grocery stores, colleges, and places like that.

I have a friend that works at a local radiostation so i was going to ask him to pass along a little notice for the D.J to read.

Could put an add in the papers too.

But the way i understood it- it may be difficult or somewhat unwlecoming for non-E/CRV ridgeline owners that would not have registered to be present.

Just to clarify... we still *want* to set a record but nothing is official yet. As you have seen with even the delayed announcements of official agendas, Honda is still finalizing things for our visits with them on Friday and Saturday. So, the timing and logistics of a record are still up in the air. I don't know what space we'll have, what time timeframe we'll have, etc. so please leave any promoting or announcing to those of us handling the event. I'd hate to have a bunch of owners make a drive to something that may change considerably.

Thanks all!

aight,

say the word though and I can start pounding the pavement.

Here's a thought; are you promoting the 08 meet in any "industry" press?

I was thinking; Superstreet, Honda Tuning, Sport Compact car, Modified Import Tuner etc. I think they're all Primedia products anyway, but one of them might come out and cover it.

Not a bad idea, but I don't know how much the Superstreet, Sport Compact Car, etc. magazines will care about a bunch of Elements and Ridgelines. Even though it is car related, I don't think it would fit their niche. Most people reading that magazine are looking for things like skylines, twin turbo supras, mugen civics, acuras, and stuff like that. I don't know that they would spend the time to cover an Element meet.

No, because this is an international meet for club members. There are activities being planned for the benefit of EOC and ROC members, not for just anyone off the street. If this were just about setting the record and we were meeting somewhere that could accommodate a thousand cars with no regulations, I'd be more open to telling anyone and everyone. I hope that makes sense.

I should know more details about Saturday's agenda in mid-April. We'll figure out what we can do from there.

Thanks!
