Hello
I am new here. Just got a 08 Element EX. The stereo knocks my socks off, subwoofer, etal. Here is my question. I have a Sirius Stiletto receiver and a bought a custom bracket that fit inside the radio. The first instruction is to remove the bezel aroud the radio. Well, I tried ad cat seem to figure it out. I bought a plastic tool that supposedly makes it easy, and the tool snapped.

FYI, here is a link to the bracket....

Use a flat blade screwdriver, there are a couple of slots on the bottom edge, bend down and look up at it and you will see the two slots on either side.

Ok here is my newbie question. Where am I putting the screwdriver? Does it go in at the seam between the radio and the edge, or am i removing it from below just above the air knobs?

I was trying to put the tool between the seam right the edge of the radio. Maybe I am removing it from the bottom?

just above the air knobs

and carefully pry the unit out. There are four clips that hold it (rather tight I might add).

Once you get the ends free it's a lot easier to remove it. But again, those clips hold that puppy pretty dang tight.

It will come off, it just seems to take more muscle than it should.

I looked at the radio, I didnt notice the notches. The radio is has an xm button built in at the factory. I guess most Ex have it?

I may bring it to an installer. cant cost more than a few bucks to do. And i am having $1500 of upgrades to my 08 PT Cruiser (wifes) stereo, so Iwould think he may do it for me.

Do you have the bracket yet? If so, does it seam robust enough to mount a 6-7" screen GPS module?
